Anyone work for a car dealership? Missing car!

A week last Sunday I bought a brand new car for the first time! (Cheaper than running my old car!)
Signed all the paperwork for finance last week.
The car was coming from another dealership and it still hasn't arrived and they don't know where it is or when it will arrive here! Is this common?
I have to keep calling them and since last weds I've had one call back from them! On Tuesday evening they promised they would call on Wednesday, they didn't! The log book arrived at mine yesterday!
I don't know if this is a normal thing not knowing where a car is and just waiting for it to turn up? Normal that I have to keep chasing? I don't know if it's too early to speak to manager or complain? Or do I just let it go and not contact them!
I was so excited that I was getting a new car for the first time and now I feel a bit bleurgh about it!
Any advice anyone?

Call the car manufacturers head office, get them involved.

Complain! You've got a log book for a car you haven't even got yet! That's not right. Tell them. Take it further if they do not give you a satisfactory answer/outcome.

Is it "new new" or "new to you" ?

I bought a second hand car from a vauxhall dealership through Network Q and it took ages for the garage who had the car to deliver it to the garage where I'd ordered it.

Sounds like normal motor trade disorganisation to me. Ring customer services and complain.

Its maby years since I was in the industry but ....I would ring up the Dealer and tell the salesman you will be escalating the issue to the Sales Manager or Dealer Principal if you don’t have your car or a detailed timeline by the weekend. Explain how much you've been looking forward to it and how its beginning to affect your view of the dealership. I suspect that they’ve put in a request to get the car but the driver is on holiday and they don’t want to pay for a freelancer. (Either your dealer or the sending dealer) it could also be that the transporter only goes once a week , or that the car isn’t ready.

If you have time you could go into the dealership and say ‘could you ring now’ and plonk yourself down at a desk. You really need to know ‘Do they have confirmation that the car is ready to go’ , ‘how is it being sent’ , who requests it etc. Take them through step by step and don’t let them wriggle. You should also be asking if they can do anything for you to make up for the delay - free mats, tank of petrol, Road fund licence etc.

Its my bet if you use the words ‘Dealer Principal’ then the sales guy will realise you mean business and start to ring / email - ‘don’t know’ is not acceptable with phones and email. Previous posters are right you could also call the manufacturers customer care ...basically make it less hassle to find you the answers than keep dealing with you.

Happened to us - new car supposed to arrive in time for Xmas drive down to the in-laws, nowhere to be found apparently Hmm

We got loaned an alternative pretty new car for 2 weeks, and ours did turn up by new year. I expected someone just didn’t fancy driving it down from wherever it was.
