Does anybody have feet that rub/blister in the heat? If so, what do you do/wear to prevent it happening?

I wear leather shoes/sandals while I’m away, to stop my feet rubbing and blistering in the heat, yet it still happens.

I’ve used those party feet gel cushions, and they did work once but not this time, as the party feet disintegrated and lost their stickiness due to the heat.

What can I do/use/wear to stop this happening and to stop the many plasters as well as the party feet gel cushions?
Any good comfortable shoes around?
Any advice will be very welcome, thank you.

Bumping for you as I have strangely rough looking feet that are also soft as a babies bum, blisters a plenty.

MoltenMountain · 03/07/2019 09:13

A friend of mine used a scholl (?) foot deodorant

I dust my feet with talc before wearing sandals.

Compeed sell an anti- blister stick. I use it instead of plasters where sandal straps would rub, works for me. About £4.

Ah, not just me then 🙂.

@greenwaterbottle, I couldn’t have described it better myself.

@Cablestitch, anti blister stick sounds good. I’ll also try the foot deodorant and/or talc.

Great suggestions, thank you 💐

Yes, I Live in the tropics and know this well. Sweaty feet stick to the leather of the shoes - foot deodorant or talc can help a lot.

Blistering easily can be medical as in it can be caused by a mineral deficiency or Ehlers Danilos, or both in DDs case. Lots of Zinc supplements helped a lot

KnittingSister · 03/07/2019 11:41

According to another thread today, sex lube put on affected areas Grin

ilikepurple · 03/07/2019 11:47

I use the scholl foot deodorant spray and carry it in my bag! It really helps.

When I did the coast to coast walk I used vaseline on my feet morning and night and no blisters. Are you wearing any socks?

MoltenMountain · 03/07/2019 12:01

Are you wearing the right sized shoes? Bearing in mind your feet swell when it's hot. Or ones which are adjustable across the front as well as ankle.

I wear teva sandals. They're not leather though, nor are they the height of fashion.

Threedaysaweek2019 · 03/07/2019 20:04

@MoltenMountain maybe I need a size up.
They don’t have adjustable straps no, they are like leather mules more than anything.
Maybe I need adjustable sandals mules kind of thing.
I’ll check out the Teva sandals.
With feet like mine, comfort needs to be the name of the game now.
@KnittingSister, I read that thread. Might give it a try 😂....

RIght shoes, if necessary a carefully applied bit of padding in the shoe or a Compeed blister plaster before wearing.

Any shoe that need >1 blister plaster doesn't get worn again. I more or less know my styles now.

And in dire straights Bodyglide all over my feet to stop friction in the shoes.
