... and I'm not surprised that it's gone under offer in the few days since I found it. I love this house so much that it really did make me cry - I just want it SO DESPERATELY

That is lovely OP.

If it's any consolation living that close to the sea means you will be constantly battling salt on the windows, seagull poo everywhere (you can see this in one photo!) And rust! My window hinges have rusted and it's a new build with the newest and "best" of windows Hmm
Not to mention the wind that is always colder than a few hundred metres back from the coast and always, always on the go.

So maybe it's a blessing you missed out on this one Grin

@ICanWearMyBoobsUpOrDown I would say it's highly likely you know of the lovely family...would be almost impossible to live in the area and not. If I say rainbow signs and ice cream bench. Star

m00rfarm · 03/07/2019 09:33

Is that really the proper kitchen? I thought it was the mud room or laundry room.

@Decormad38

When attracting a mate spiders like to spray themselves out on a background that makes them more visible and the colours yellow and turquoise are their favourite.

This info was told to me by the man who ran the Tarantula society so I’m guessing it might only apply to gigantic spiders but I’m never taking the chance and won’t have yellow or turquoise walls!

Splay

Lovely position but it looks like a money pit.
It looks like it probably needs rewiring, replumbing, new bathrooms, new kitchen

Also reckon everything will cost at least triple because it’s listed. Plus the permissions etc. There’ll be extra external maintenance due to salt etc.

Buildings and contents insurance will probably be huge as well.

Looks like stacked corridors to me on the floorplan too. Not family friendly.

Then there’ll be the crowds practically sat in your garden on nice days.

If i was going beachfront I’d get something a little less high maintenance away from the main crowds.

Then it would need all the walls skimming before you started on the painting and decorating

Um ... why*

When you rewire you have to chisel into the plaster.

It never looks quite right after if you just fill it in.
Also I have done houses like this one before and move anything away from the walls and I bet a few of the walls will have plaster falling off the walls (whole sheets of it)

We once moved a wardrobe from a wall in a house that originally looked similar to the interior of this house and the whole wall of plaster behind fell off.

I have been into houses of a certain age and the only thing keeping the plaster on the walls is the wallpaper

I’m not far from you ICanWear. Had a good ogle at the one you linked to when it came online. Loved the kitchen. One day...

Okyah · 03/07/2019 10:20

I love it. But agree the kitchen is a massive letdown. It’s a lot of house for the money. Can you imagine the equivalent down South . But yes to all the snags pointed out - salt damage, crowds, terraced, on the street. It has a lovely friendly look though to me. A lot of really big houses can look a bit creepy or not inviting.

Camsie30 · 03/07/2019 10:25

I'd rather have this one...

The Bishops Avenue, London, N2

Pipandmum · 03/07/2019 10:30

I’d be worried the sea would be swallowing that house in a decade or so! Also a lot of stairs....

RightOnTheEdge · 03/07/2019 10:53

I'm with you OP, I think it's gorgeous.
The views are amazing.
I think if I lived there I would never get anything done. I would spend all my time gazing at the sea!

Whatthefoxgoingon · 03/07/2019 10:59

Gorgeous house. A complete money pit. Trust me, I live in a Georgian money pit and I know one when I see one!!

Time40 · 03/07/2019 16:49

It probably is a money pit ... but I'm quite scruffy, so if I had it, I wouldn't do as much as many people would. I'd just think, "Yes, rubbish kitchen" ... and live with it.

I did my sitting-rooms walls pale yellow recently, and I haven't noticed any more spiders. I have noticed that if you're wearing mustard-coloured clothing on hot days, you can sometimes get absolutely covered in insects, though.

That's a lovely house in Nairn. I could go for that one, too.

... I don't (thank goodness) like the one on Bishop's Avenue. Too modern and flashy for me. And the price!!! My god.

It's perfect.

PinkOboe · 03/07/2019 18:53

How funny. I was on the beach below it on Saturday checking out the particulars on Rightmove. Next door is nicer looking and has a better cliffside garden if it makes you feel better

Orangecake123 · 03/07/2019 19:57
Shock

The 12 bed house is beautiful.
