I was wearing a top that was lower at the back than I am used to and got caught out today.I'm upset because I'm careful.but it seems about once a year partner me gets burnt for some reason (like the time.i got interrupted half way and forgot to do one thigh etc etc). I hate summer for this reason.

I have a ball on Saturday night and I'm wearring a strapless dress.

What can I do? I've cool showered and slathered on after sun.

Sudacrem is magic (if messy) on sunburn.

Tingface · 02/07/2019 23:00

Sudocream will take the redness down. And lots of cold showers.
And then use some fake tan to tip what’s left from red to brown.

See, I’ve slathered on the sudocrem for several days to zero effect. Most disappointing, although the charming white lines of residue left on my skin are impressive.

Thanks I'll give it a go.

Am j going to look awful? It's my first proper night out since my son was born.

So cross with myself. It makes me so anxious health wise, too

If it is a fresh sunburn, i soak a T-shirt where I’m burnt and wear it overnight and by the morning the burn is normally gone and im brown instead. You need to redampen it when it dries out if you wake up and sleep on a towel. I prefer to put the top on then spray it with cold water till it is soaked over the burnt area otherwise its really uncomfortable over non burnt areas.

Depending on the condition of your skin on the day, the area that needs covering and the colour of your dress, you could try covering it with foundation and then hair spraying in order to set it. I've had success with this method before.

Here's a really weird one for you, but it works.
Get some bog standard tea bags - enough to cover the area. Steep them in boiling water like normal , then drain after a couple of minutes. Don't squeeze the water out of them, .
Put them in the freezer till they are cold but not frozen. Stick them over the reddened area and leave for 20 minutes or so.
Do it a couple of times.
Something about the tannin in them plus cold sucks the heat out and the red colour.

I swear this works. My niece thought I was bats when she burned her face, as have several other people, but they don't anymore.

Cut a tomatoes and rub it over the burns it helps lift out the stinging feeling which reduces the redness. The best aftersun i’ve found is called ‘aloha’ and from Savers it has a really high amount of aloe compared to others.
