I went to the gp friday about a mark i have on my left breast that goes red the week leading up to my period. Now the marks been on my breast for 10 years and previous gps have said it was nothing but i hadnt really noticed it go red. So gp friday who wasn't fussed on the mark but was fussed about my areola being a darker the my breast and asked when they had changed which they haven't both breast are the same and have always been like that. And he said he could feel a lump then couldn't find it again. Said he thinks theres changes but didn't say nothing else no explanation of what he thought just refering me to breast clinic. The receptionist who was a chaperone follwed me out and told me not to worry when i get the lettet as it will talk about the dreaded c word but the gps not worried and doesn't think its cancer. I have received letter today which hasn't mentioned nothing at all about cancer or anything about why i have been sent just that i amy need a ultra sound, mamorgram or biopsy.

I am now panicing at the lack of information and my minds all over the place. My appoinments on the 10th july.

Frequent flyer at breast clinic here.

Lots of us get lumps , or something else, in our breasts, and have to go to breast clinic, where they are ace at sorting out what's going on.

Some women once, others, like me , repeatedly.
90-95% of us won't have breast cancer. Cysts, non-growing lumps, benign lumps. Most of us have nothing to worry about.
But we all worry.

Everyone gets an appointment within 2weeks- just for the minority who need seen quickly.

Mostly, wait, exam, mammogram and/or ultrasound, get told it's all fine, off home relieved.
Less commonly, biopsy needed.

Some of us get lumps easily - I've developed one solely from a badly fitting bra!

You can't help worry a bit, but try not to panic. The maths is on your side.
Good luck.
