Unbelievable

dudsville · 02/07/2019 11:54

We're not all born with the same set of skills, I won't shame her for that. The newspaper shouldn't have published that.

SparklyMagpie · 02/07/2019 11:54

"She said: “My son is five months old, but if he was old enough, he would probably be upset.”

😂😂😂

Zaphodsotherhead · 02/07/2019 12:12

Aren't those toys you get in those machines usually not safe for children under three anyway? Cheap crap where the fur falls off and the eyes come out?

Greenolivesorblackolives · 02/07/2019 12:15

Cheryl Holden believes the machines were set up to stop her winning

No shit?!

gotmychocolateimgood · 02/07/2019 12:16

Dear God.
Is that the Pontins holiday park which gets dreadful TripAdvisor reviews?

NigesFakeWalkingStick · 02/07/2019 12:19

Sorry, but this is hilarious 😂

GiveMeAllTheGin8 · 02/07/2019 12:21

Saw this earlier, was going to post! It can’t be real?!!! The comments are hilarious Grin

ScreamingValenta · 02/07/2019 12:22

Why didn't she just buy him a teddy?

Those machines are set to 'pay out' at a certain % of takings, just like fruit machines. The grip of the claw is normally to slack to pick a teddy up, but tightens at the point the machine is programmed to 'pay out' so you are almost sure to get one. It's a gamble - don't put in more than you can afford to lose.

Personally I think it's wrong to have gambling machines that target children in this way - I say this as someone who enjoys an occasional flutter - I'm not anti-gambling, but it should be an adult choice.

ScreamingValenta · 02/07/2019 12:22

too^ slack ...

Aebj · 02/07/2019 12:25

Surely would of been cheaper buying the toy in a store? Have one or two goes but £100? That’s mad.

Itellpeopletogoogleit · 02/07/2019 12:25

It amazes me that people like this make it through life to this point. How does she manage to get dressed or care for her child being so incapable!

Peachesandcream14 · 02/07/2019 12:26

That is the most ridiculous thing I have seen for a while. Why after discovering it was definitely rigged when the employee 'changed the setting' did she keep playing?! I admit I once sunk twenty odd quid into one when tipsy at a bowling alley trying to win a Peter rabbit toy for my then 1 year old, luckily my friend dragged me away before I wasted any more money. Everyone knows they are rigged anyway, your only hope of winning is if you're the person that puts in the 200th pound or whatever they are set to.

RebootYourEngine · 02/07/2019 12:27

Who knew that those grab machines are rigged for people not to win 🤔

PivotPivotPivottt · 02/07/2019 12:27

I knew it would be this Grin saw it on Facebook earlier.

brotown · 02/07/2019 12:28

I knew it would be this!!

CardinalCopia · 02/07/2019 12:29

Who knew that those grab machines are rigged for people not to win

I did! I saw one for sale once and read the manual (I seem to collect random shit and had half an idea to fill one with toy story aliens, but I digress...
In the instructions it told you how to change the 'win' settings so the claw actually stayed tightened and won the prize. It could be set to something like win every 25 turns so you factored the cost of the prize into the profit.

Fascinated me at the time. I've never played one since.

ErrolTheDragon · 02/07/2019 12:30

The newspaper did well to not use the name of the toy she won in the piece.

Oldraver · 02/07/2019 12:31

What a twonk....the Disney Store has them for £22

CardinalCopia · 02/07/2019 12:31

If you're a bit sad like me there is a claw manual here explaining how to set it up from weight of prizes to win rates.

HulksPurplePanties · 02/07/2019 12:32
Confused

She could have bought him a dozen teddies for that. Was she high or something?

ErrolTheDragon · 02/07/2019 12:34

There's nothing sad about understanding machines and statistics, cardinal.

Soubriquet · 02/07/2019 12:36

I saw this on FB too GrinGrinGrin

I thought it was common knowledge that they were rigged.

They are designed to rob you of your money. If it was easy, they would never make a profit

It’s just pure luck.

I’ve won a me2you teddy for 20p before but on the flip side, I’ve sunk £30 in to one to win a specific LOL toy before coming to my senses and walking away.

She’s just a bit of an attention seeker to go to the papers with this!

Like PP have said, you can buy a good quality dumbo for that price three times over

ScreamingValenta · 02/07/2019 12:39

I love things like that, Cardinal.

I had an ex who was forever putting money into fruit machines - until I asked him why he didn't just send £100 to the firm who owned them and ask them to send £75 back to him, thus cutting out the middle man.

rockingthelook · 02/07/2019 12:44

Proof you can't train stupid?, Jog on love, trying to get some compensation ? Total fuckwit
