Can anyone help me? I am trying to make a skirt from a pattern (Burda 6880) - Have cut out all pieces but now I am totally stuck on where I start (as in which bit of the instructions) and also how much interfacing to use - it just doesn't seem to say anywhere. Any clues from wise people?

if I use the same pattern piece as for the main fabric, then the interfacing will be the same size as the whole piece of fabric, rather than just a waistband around the top, won't it?

Use the pattern piece to cut the top and side edges of the interfacing but cut the interfacing about 4cm below the top. It's just the bit that's shown with dots at the bottom of your first photo.

Thank you!

If it’s anything like my burda pattern on the pattern piece there’s normally a dotted line that shows the width the interfacing should be

That's what I was expecting Phoenix but there is nothing like that, which is why I was puzzled. So, ThatLibrary, is the top of the waist finished simply by stitching the main fabric to the lining? It sounds a bit insubstantial. Thanks so much for this help.

Yes, with the interfacing sandwiched between them. The understitching in step 15 will help the lining not to roll to the outside.

It says for view b that you put the strip of interfacing on the lining only. There is no interfacing on the yoke of the main fabric.

Or try the sewing in the uk group on Facebook.

Thousands of people in that group, I bet somebody has sewn this pattern before!

I've found them useful in the past Smile
