Paddling pool = no need to bath

Just musing as yesterday my kids spent the afternoon in a paddling pool (water replaced several times so was relatively clean) and I didn't bother bathing them.

This was met with raised eyebrows by my friend today?

Was it that minging?

Was tempted to do the same again this evening Grin

Nope not at all!

In fact, I throw some baby soap in to make sure DS is extra squeaky clean!

People are so judgy Hmm

I don't bathe my kids every night anyway. I didn't bathe them yesterday but they were a bit gritty after multiple applications of suncream and sweat and playing out all day. Bathed them tonight in time for school/nursery - they'll pass

I don’t think the water in a paddling pool would usually be that clean as you’re not using any soap and it’s going to have picked up dirt from the garden moreso than a bath. But I don’t bath all of my children daily anyway so I think of you were changing the water regularly and your children are out of nappies so less likely to be peeing in it it’s totally reasonable not to give a bath after playing in the fairly clean water.

Totally fine Smile

I don’t usually use soap on my child. If she was playing in the garden then she would have been scruff from suncream and making potions Hmm so she would have needed a bath. Occasionally she says she is too tired for a bath so we skip it. She hasn’t developed skin disease yet.

I washed my youngest's hair and body in the paddling pool yesterday lol. She has had a proper bath tonight ha!

My dd was in the water all day yesterday, after her last dip I lathered her up and rinsed her with a jug of warm tap water.

You’re friend is making work for herself.

I don't think a paddling pool replaces a bath but also don't think you're a terrible parent for choosing not to give them a bath after dealing with yesterday's sweltering heat.
To be fair, they'd have been more minging from sweating through the night than they would have been from being in the pool all day.

BatFacedGirl · 30/06/2019 19:24

I'd personally bath but wouldn't judge you for not doing so

PhillipeFellope · 30/06/2019 19:31

Mine was in a paddling pool all yesterday and then had a bath too. He was still mucky and sweaty and slimy from suncream and ice pops. If he hadn't been so grotty I wouldn't have bathed him also.

If we'd have been at home I'd have stuck a jug of warm soapy water over him outside and then straight into Pj's.

I quite often don’t bath them every night. It dries her skin out and I’m don’t see the need
