Asking for help for my DD12. She has to design and make a product from waste plastic and then explain how it could be used to help reduce plastic in the future.

Any ideas? We are a bit stuck and usual Google searches and Pinterest aren't proving useful.

Take a plastic bottle cut the top off, fashion a handle and lid from other parts of the bottle to make a plastic reusable mug.

Chop carrier bags into strips, weave them into a reusable bag (there are tutorials online for making a strong reusable tote bag out of thin 5p carriers)

Have a look at Ikea they have a social media campaign running on this topic-I saw it on Instagram. One good idea was Ikea bags made into picnic rugs.

This one would be easy and would remove the need for cling film in lunch boxes which would reduce ongoing plastic use www.chicaandjo.com/fused-plastic-sandwich-wraps/

I’ve just seen that some of ikeas kitchen doors are made from recycled plastic bottles.

...but your DD (I assume) doesn’t have industrial machinery, so she’s going to be very limited

Another daft school
Project, I think most of us are over trying to do stuff like this

Google "make rope from plastic bottles" to find many variations on instructions.

Then the resulting cords can be wound or plaited into all sorts of things.

What about something like this?
