Went to doctors yesterday as i have this mark that comes and goes on my right boob.
He excamined me and told me he though he could feel a change maybe a lump that he was refering me on that hes not worried. I suffer from bad anxiety and started taking meds for 3 weeks ago.
I am terrified. The receptionist followed me out and told me he was doing a 2 week referal that it will mention cancer but not to worry at all as the doctor isn't concerened at all.

Would they tell me properly if they were or would they down play it because if my anxiety?

Have you had any marks anywhere else?

You say you started new meds 3 weeks ago. Have you looked at the side effects?

endofthelinefinally · 29/06/2019 10:26

I have been through this. I found a lump. In my case it turned out ok.
IME the gp is being honest with you. It is good that they are referring you via the 2 week wait. It is either that or grapple with choose and book and wait months.

Have you got a partner or friend to go with you to the appointment?

No marks anywhere else the marks been coming and going before i started the meds. I had seen a doctor about it 4 weeks ago but it had gone so they didn't see it. She didn't feel anything and said ots was all normal. This docotor said that i feel something a little different but isnt worried.

Your doctor probably genuinely isn’t worried but referring you as a precaution. I’ve been referred under the two week wait procedure for a breast lump and my husband under the same timeframe for bowel problems - both times the doctors told us they weren’t concerned but just wanted to be sure. They were right!
When my sister had breast cancer, the doctor who referred her told her he really was concerned with what he could feel - so I don’t think they just say it to make you feel better!
The chances are it’s nothing harmful, but better to be referred for tests and be sure x

Yes it is good. Apparently they doing the 2 weeks becuase of my anxiety not because hes worried.
Yes i have a very supportive husband to cone with me.

Would appreciate all alot if handholds and experiences.
I am lucky to have a very supportive husband. He actually said hes not worried as the odds are on my side. No family history. Being 32. No pain or other symptoms just the mark and possible lump that gp wasn't sure on.

I had an urgent referral to the breast clinic after presenting with symptoms very similar to those of inflammatory breast cancer. The GP said that she wasn’t particularly concerned, it was most likely just an abscess and started me on antibiotics but also did a referral just in case. She was absolutely right, the symptoms started easing almost as soon as I started on the ABs. She said even if things did improve to keep the breast clinic appointment which I did. They did an ultrasound, confirmed it was just an abscess and that it was clearing up suitably with the ABs and that was that, no problems since.

BorderlineExperimental · 29/06/2019 12:45

I forgot to include a hand hold for you Blush It is fucking nerve wracking but they definitely wouldn’t tell you they weren’t concerned if they really were Flowers

StrugglingOn13 · 29/06/2019 12:48

I work in a hospital and deal with the referral data. All breast referrals come in under a two week referral pathway, There isn’t another option to see a breast consultant from a GP and even he said he wasn’t really concerned it’s just a formality to get onto the correct NHS pathway Smile

Handhold Flowers and everything will be okay x

Harleyisme · 29/06/2019 12:49

Thank you for the hand hold. Its the wait thats horrible. Gp was definitely now concerned and the receptionist reiterated this as well

holds hand I think it's probably just precautions OP. I too had a mark/lump and it took a lot to go and see someone. I got a referral to the breast clinic and the Dr examined me there and then to be safe she booked me in for an ultrasound. And it was fine. The experience itself was alright too - lovely drs and nurses and they were so reassuring and kind. Mine tuned out to be nothing of concern, so I'm sending hugs and hoping yours is fine too. Flowers
