Floss, mouthwash and then brush teeth?

I'm going through dental treatment for gum disease at the moment Sad

I normally floss, then brush my teeth and then use mouthwash but recently I've started thinking that the mouthwash probably washes the fluoride (from the toothpaste) out of my mouth! So I've started to floss, use mouthwash and then brush my teeth.

Does anyone know the "correct" order to do things?! I'd like to improve the condition of my gums. I know I can't make them better but at least I can stop them from getting worse.

Also, if anyone has gum disease which toothpaste or mouthwash helped your condition?

qj17 - why can't you wet the toothbrush first? Confused I've always done this!

It starts rinsing the flouride away as soon as you start brushing as it creates more of a lather for you to spit out! This is what I was taught as dental school 😂

I floss then brush and don't rinse. Teeth before breakfast and not within an hour of eating sugar or fizzy drink for bedtime. My mum is a hygienist and made me do this as a child. Every dentist always says I have excellent oral hygiene Smile

Wow...I've learned something today. I will stop wetting my toothbrush before I put the toothpaste on! Thanks for the tip qj17 Grin

Brush, retaining as much toothpaste foam as possible.
Spit but don’t rinse.
Floss and teepee.

My dentist says no to mouthwash as a general rule.

Brush before breakfast, not after.

I brush first thing before breakfast (spit but don’t rinse) then use dental tape and a tepe brush dipped in mouthwash to floss.

Hadn’t heard about not wetting the brush, but will definitely try that from now on.
