Long lasting (3 months minimum) frizz removal treatments - which one worked for you?

Long lasting (3 months minimum) frizz removal treatments - which one worked for you?

Like keratin or anything similar (most likely something from a salon). I've tried olaplex but it only lasted until the next wash unfortunately.
Having put relaxer in my hair a few weeks ago, it's really dried it out horribly.

The longer it'll last and the cheaper it is, the better (please only suggest treatments that will last at least 3 months without further application). I have thick, curly, fluffy/frizzy looking hair.

Thank you

I get keratin. My hairdresser advised it lasts 3/4 months. It costs £70. Though I've been a bit broke so I haven't had it done since Dec. I need to get it done soon. I've got a bit of frizz now but I can still wash it and leave it to dry and it still looks OK. I think it depends on how curly your hair is. Also I go to an independent one man band so it's cheaper than a salon.

I have really, really thick curly hair it is the thickest curliest hair imaginable- I have Kebelo done once every 6 months. I makes my hair much less frizzy and blow drying it poker straight is much, much easier.

Thanks for the replies so far.

@Lochnessgiraffe Does keratin really last for 3 or 4 months on your hair (as good as when first applied?)

@Lonecatwithkitten Not heard of that before. Do you get it done at the salon? Googling it shows a lot of at home kits for it. How long does it last? Do you have any before and after pictures you could message me please? (you can cover up your face etc. if you wish to be anonymous of course)

I have it done in the salon my hairdresser is real fussy and this is his preferred option over the other treatments.
Below are not great photos of before and after shoots.
I makes my hair much more manageable and it does not get frizzier when it rains.

Oh it lasts me about 5-6 months, but I am not a religious hairdresser attender.

BlueberriesAndCream · 29/06/2019 08:55

does your hair still go curly afterwards, but just not frizzy?

That sounds ideal. I have curly hair that looks nice at first, but then gets fluffy on the edges. It's too thick to look good really straight, though, but I'd love to get it less frizzy/more shiny, when it's curly/wavy

Lonecatwithkitten · 29/06/2019 09:30

@BlueberriesAndCream if I wash, apply product and allow to dry naturally I still have a curl, but not frizz. However, it is also considerably easier to style and straighten.
It also makes my hair much more manageable I had gone quite short to keep it manageable, but have found with Kebelo I can have my hair longer again.

Lonecatwithkitten · 29/06/2019 09:31

@BlueberriesAndCream before Kebelo straight it almost came out my head like a triangle now it sits as you can see in the photo.

Lochnessgiraffe · 29/06/2019 10:46

Here are before and after photos. In the first one. I had blow dried and straightened my hair. The second is after keratin.

Thank you for the very helpful pics @Lochnessgiraffe and @Lonecatwithkitten Looks like a really nice improvement for both :)

@Lochnessgiraffe how long does your hair look like the after pic? I tried a keratin at home kit once and the hair came out exactly like your "after" pic once but went back to the original frizz after 1 wash..!

Interesting, thanks.

Are there any links the actual products you used? Or are those brand names? Does it need to be done by a hairdresser?

I quite like mine curly, but would love to get rid of the frizz.

The shiny 'after' pic above looks great for straight hair! But I'd quite like to keep some of the curl and wave as I normally just let it dry naturally. I just want shiny smooth curls without loads of work... (and the moon on a stick?!)

I know you’re only asking about longer term things but I’ve seen amazing before and after shots with this stuff. You could maybe have keratin and use this in between if it’s getting a bit frizzy?

This is travel size to try out

@SinkGirl Thanks but I tried this around the time when the world cup was on as I heard great things about it today but was totally awful for my hair :( not like any of the adverts/reviews at all.

Oh that’s such a shame! Oh well :)

Lochnessgiraffe · 29/06/2019 14:16

I'd also love to be able to have it curly again but with no frizz. But no idea how to do that. My hair now 6 months later is a bit fuller but almost the same. The best thing is no frizz during this heat wave.

Lochnessgiraffe · 29/06/2019 14:20

Also I couldn't do it myself. It took 2 hairdressers over 3 hours to do it. They put the stuff and leave it for 30mins. Then they straightened it dry took over 1 hour. Then they washed it and roughly dried it.

Lochnessgiraffe · 29/06/2019 20:34

This is after 6 months. Just washed and air dried hair. So you can understand why I need to get it done again.

Texture release is meant to be good. I get my hair relaxed im tempted to try texture release but im not great with change lol.
Did u do the relaxer yourself? Jus wondering if you put a hair treatment on it before drying it and also put some oil into it stops tge dryness x
