Any good tips for getting sunburn to calm down quickly??

Missed a couple of really obvious stripes on my shoulders today with sun cream and they are fairly red!
I’m out tomorrow night and the strappy top I’m supposed to be wearing looks a bit stupid!!
I’ve done multiple applications of aftersun but just wondered if anyone had any top tips for anything else I could try to make it less obvious!!

I doubt anything will calm down the redness bar time. I missed a bit today and have use a leaf off the aloe Vera plant which was very cooling.

Sudocrem overnight might bring it down a bit

Put curd or natural yogurt on the sunburned areas and leave it on for half an hour.

If you haven't already, get in the shower and have a long tepid shower. Then reapply after sun - aloe vera if you have it.

Sudocrem. I look like Casper after 12 hours of that all over me.

No idea on calming colour but soreness I recommend aloe gel with a few drops lavender and/or camomile essential oil mixed in.

We keep a tube of Holland and Barrett aloe gel in the fridge for minor burns and scrapes.

Also reduces risk of scarring

Get to a pharmacy/chemist and buy some burn gel - not cheap but a miracle cure as it's designed for burns...

Cocoa butter is also a good option, very cooling, not sure how much it will help with the redness though.

Paracetamol. Cold flannels. Mashed avocado.

Tingface · 28/06/2019 21:53

Long cold shower and sudocrem overnight.

Cold flannels

If you have an aloe Vera plant cut off a few leaves and put the gel directly on the area that's burnt. Sorry know this is unlikely but its the only thing I know that works. It's great if you burn your hand on the oven or iron too.

This is the stuff we use

Must add, my aloe Vera leaf didn't help the severe redness of my blasted cleavage. I'm wearing full coverage today, shirt buttoned to neck!
