Potter

Mehmum · 28/06/2019 20:05

How?

Do you mean why?

Harry Potter definitely!

Whisky2014 · 28/06/2019 20:19

Well Harry potter doesn't need to get close does he? He can use spells. That's just like having a gun where the other one has his hands tied

mineofuselessinformation · 28/06/2019 20:20

Depends on whether Bella is there to shield Edward or not....

ChesterDrawsDoesntExist · 28/06/2019 20:24

"Accio Firebolt!" Straight through the sparkly vamp's heart and hey presto! Win for Harry.

Whisky2014 · 28/06/2019 20:28

No you can't start amending the details @mineofuselessinformation !

Tableclothing · 28/06/2019 20:30

Cullen would read Harry's mind and be able to evade all his spells. It brings me no joy to say so.

pictish · 28/06/2019 20:32

Potter. Easy.

Mehmum · 28/06/2019 20:36

Wouldn’t Potter have to cut up Cullen and then burn the pieces?

OP posts:
Mehmum · 28/06/2019 20:37

Anyway, definitely How not Why?!

I think Edward actually. He has super human speed, and he can read minds, so I think he'll be able to predict and avoid any spells Harry casts and he could close the distance and kill Harry before Harry could react. Also, I'm not sure Harry could kill him unless the killing curse actually destroys the person's soul, because Edward isn't technically alive. He has no heartbeat, no need for oxygen he's effectively an embalmed corpse. Yes, Harry could maybe set him on fire but again, Edward could probably predict that and even if he couldn't, he could move out of the way. Any way you slice it, I think Edward comes out on top. And yes, I appreciate that I thought about this way too much.

Mehmum · 28/06/2019 20:51

Love it DrPeppers but isn’t Voldemort also technically dead?

OP posts:
DrPeppersPhD · 28/06/2019 21:07

I dont think so Mehmum. He lost his body, but his soul survived, and therefore he needed a host body, but he was still alive. Once he got a body of his own in Goblet of Fire, he was fully alive again. I'm happy to be proven wrong though, because I really don't want Edward to win, I mean ideally they'd take each other out but we can't have everything.

Mehmum · 28/06/2019 22:35

In the 7th book. Harry became quite good at occlemency so he could block any mind reading attempts by Edward Cullen.

DrPeppersPhD · 29/06/2019 10:45

That's a good point actually, I'm not entirely sure of the mechanics of Edward's mind reading. My only counter argument would be that Edward doesn't seem to read minds, so much as he can just hear whatever's going on in someone's head, so maybe occlemency wouldn't be so helpful as Harry would have to waste time blocking off his mind while Edward had already heard what he was planning to do and attacks straight away.
At this point I think we need to think more about the circumstances of the fight. How much do they know about each other's powers, and is the information symmetric? If Harry knows Edward is a vampire that can read minds, and Edward doesn't know Harry's a wizard, now Harry has a massive advantage because he can go into the fight already using occlemency and aware that the killing curse won't be enough (for my purposes and given the lack of any evidence to the contrary I'm going to say that Avada Kadavera kills the body but does not directly destroy the soul), and since Edward has to rely on his speed alone now a quick stupify followed up with a fire spell of your choice and boom, crispy roast Edward.
Is the fight a 1 on 1 thing or is it in a crowd, does Edward know what Harry's internal voice sounds like compared to everyone else, is the fight taking place at Hogwarts or in Forks or some random place, do they know they're going to fight?
In a straight fight where they have no knowledge of each other and they're powers, Edward has the upper hand. But in a prearranged duel with time for both parties to prepare, I don't think it'd be so cut and dry.

NotSoThinLizzy · 29/06/2019 11:21

I think it would depend on how much prep time they have 😂
