I've never stuck to one profession, not through a lack of wanting to but situations, for me Id rather stick to a job that i enjoy whereas I know others have careers

In my job experience I've worked in

Medical research
Food
Council
Fine book publisher (longest job for 11 years till redundancy)
Then courier company

Just wondering if others have had a variety or same

Heritage. Since I graduated from an Ma in 1999. Mostly for Local Authorities and one national body. A bit of a break raising children but now working for myself editing and proof-reading archaeological academic texts. Never been interested in much else.

Teaching. I've done this my whole adult life and at the moment I can't imagine doing anything else.

I'm a supply teacher though so get plenty of variety.

Chartered Accountant, management consultancy & professional training.

Decormad38 · 28/06/2019 22:24

I've worked in two professions but many jobs. Professions nursing and teaching. A profession is different from a job. When you make a mistake selling towels or cutting hair then you are not hauled up before a professional body!

WhoaThere · 28/06/2019 22:28

Finance (accounting) and social care (now a social worker).

IT Dev for one of the big globalised four recognised names who regullarly get brought up in discussions about tax avoidance etc etc.

Didn't go to uni as I dicked about and became a DJ, come from a working class background which severely pisses off a lot more white women than it does men tbh.

Badbilly · 29/06/2019 00:15

I’ve always had a bit of a two-tier career, my main day-job always centring around electronics/ telecomms/ IT in various diverse sectors. My second tier has always been to do with music, having been a somewhat failed Bass Guitarist, a roadie ( for a quite famous pop star in the 1970’s), a sound engineer, and a DJ.

I still am still a DJ, and tonight I played at a year 11 prom at a prestigious local school, which isn’t bad going for a 63 year old! I really did have to bluff it tonight with some of the songs I had to play, but equally impressed them a couple of times when they asked for some quite obscure grime songs, and I already knew them without having to download them ( I didn’t tell them I had played another prom last week and so had been “ educated” by the previous audience! ) Bluffed it like a good un!
