Is fizzy water bad for teeth?

I've recently had to have some dental work done, and my dentist suggested that the Diet Coke I was drinking 2/3 times a week may have caused the issue.
Stupidly, I assumed drinking Diet Coke was fine because it was contained no sugar, but it turns out the acidity can still damage teeth. Seems obvious now I think about it.

A friend suggesting switching to fizzy water (San Pelligrino mineral water) as an alternative for when I fancy refreshing fizz, but is this still bad for teeth? Or is it ok?

I've googled but read conflicting advice!

Fizzy water has a pH of between 4 and 5, the colder the eater the lower the pH. Diet coke pH is 3.

The critical pH of enamel is 5.5, a pH below this will start to demineralise enamel and potetially damage it.

Whilst I would say fizzy water has some erosive potential, it's better than diet coke. I wouldn't think drinking it 2/3 times a week would cause any real harm.

if you drink it through a straw and have it with something to eat it should be fine.
