Urgent - How many units is 1.5g of alcohol?

I can't believe it.

I've had a bit of a day, my washing machine is broke and staying that way until Thurs, I've had the boiler service from hell and I thought I would treat myself to a gluten free mousse from Tesco. After I had finished, I thought it had a little 'kick' so I checked the ingredient list, and alcohol is included. The very nice man at Tesco said that the mousse had 1.5g of alcohol in.

I think that's less than a unit, and it's @ an hour and a half before I need to do the school run, but can someone reassure me?

Memo to self - check ingredients with care!

I can’t quite believe this is real

Give over op, I’m glad this is all you’ve got to worry about today

YesQueen · 28/06/2019 15:33

I wouldn't even think about it, it's a minuscule amount. You would probably have to eat 20/40/50 puddings to be over the limit. That's why there isn't a limit of 0 for stuff like this

PolkadotLollipop · 28/06/2019 15:40

They’ll be fine.

Anything containing a level of alcohol that above a certain limit (that would cause a problem with driving or impede you otherwise) would be marked as such and only sold to adults/have an age check/ID flag on it.

NeverGotMyPuppy · 28/06/2019 15:42

Don't be so utterly ridiculous.

Sorry but I can't think of anything else to say. I'd be more concerned about you driving with such little common sense 2bh.

I can't work out if the internet forum boomed because of neuroses or the other way around...

Redglitter · 28/06/2019 16:36

For heavens sake what an over reaction
Eating a chocolate mousse is not going to put you anywhere near the drink driving limit 🙄

PuppyMonkey · 28/06/2019 16:45

I second what SpottedGingham said - but in a loving way. Grin

RandomNameChange415 · 28/06/2019 16:47

1 bottle of wine = 750ml = c. 10 units = 15% abv max.

=> 1 unit = c. 11 ml pure alcohol (so 8-10g quoted upthread seems reasonable)

OP you’ll be fine - 1.5g is about the amount of alcohol you’d get from a large glass of orange juice or an alcohol free beer.

Meckity1 · 28/06/2019 16:53

It turns out I had @ 4.5g of alcohol, and I was fine!

I over-reacted, holding my hand up for that. But thanks for all the good advice.

Why do you keep using @? That symbol means ‘at’. It makes no sense in context you are using it.

Meckity1 · 28/06/2019 17:15

@PolkadotLollipop I've also seen it used as a shorthand for approximately.

Dear Lord.
Unless you do another drip feed in which you admit to a bottle of rum and few cans of Strongbow, I'm in agreement with
NeverGotMyPuppy.

I'd be more concerned about you driving with such little common sense 2bh.

PuppyMonkey · 28/06/2019 18:54

Never mind the alcohol, where the hell have you seen @ meaning approximately? Shock

DickZillaofTheVilla · 28/06/2019 18:58

Was this a wind up? Hmm

coconuttelegraph · 28/06/2019 19:02

This can't possibley be a serious thread, no one really thinks that a serving of a supermarket pudding would put them over the limit do they. Do you really ring up Tesco about it?

Bizarre

Fatted · 28/06/2019 19:07

I drove home once while scoffing down a bag of champagne truffles from Thorntons. It wasn't until I'd troffed through half of them that I thought to myself it probably wasn't the best idea I'd ever had!!

gamerchick · 28/06/2019 20:30

I don't know why people are scoffing and sniggering. 2 portions of tiramisu would put you over the limit apparently (not that anyone could eat 2 portions imo) so it stands to reason it might be sensible to be wary. There's nothing wrong in making sure Hmm

MitziK · 28/06/2019 20:44

I want to know about your song about a Goblin.

YABVVU not to share it with us.

RandomNameChange415 · 28/06/2019 20:55

Pretty sure it goes
“See the little goblin,
See his little feet.
See his little toesie wosies
Isn’t the goblin sweet.”

EdWinchester · 28/06/2019 21:00

omg. Get a grip.

Tingface · 28/06/2019 21:04

I’ve heard it all now.

MitziK · 28/06/2019 21:22

How did I not connect it with that!

Awesome.

Maybe not quite suitable for collecting one's PFB and P2B from school as it may elicit some concern from the staff, but awesome, nonetheless!

ConcreteUnderpants · 29/06/2019 14:19

I think it may have been a drunken hallucination, PuppyMonkey
That damn cheesecake.

SrSteveOskowski · 29/06/2019 14:40

I can't get the goblin song out of my head now!
I hope you're not also wearing a pair of fake gold boobs OP Grin

SpoonBlender · 29/06/2019 14:43

Best symbol for approximate is ~
