Unwell and resting, what can I do?

So I'm not very well at the moment, being well looked after medically (under a consultant) but I am so very bored!

I'm not able to do anything physical, not on bed rest as such but I can't do much more than go to the loo and I need to sit down again.

DC breaks up tomorrow so will be in the living room which means watching TV is not an option.

I have a an iPad and a laptop but limited focus.

I'm wondering about maybe trying jigsaws.

Any ideas?

Why does Dc being home mean you can’t watch tv?

civa · 27/06/2019 19:44

That didn't take long did it?

Colouring books? They have some lovely ones now days

Seeline · 27/06/2019 19:51

Puzzle books
Knitting
Crochet
Cross stitch

How old is DC? Could you do something together - board games, card games etc

civa · 27/06/2019 20:06

She is Autistic and won't engage much. We play a lot of battleships but only when she is in the right mood, she definitely won't be happy to amuse me more than that!

Cross stitch is a good idea, if I can do it. I'm not good at knitting or sewing (I can see but not nearly) but I think I cross stitch is different.

Jigsaws on the tablet? The jigsaw HD app is good and has lots of a free ones. Quicker than real life one so don’t require as much focus.

I was laid up for 2 weeks this time last year, and passed the time listening to Spotify and podcasts, reading books on the Kindle app, and browsing lots of recipe sites meal planning and noting cake recipes. I also really enjoyed travel blogs and planning a dream holiday. I also discovered a fair few box sets on the TV - a great one was the Heart Guy about an Australian Doctor - the scenery from the outback was gorgeous and very distracting.

Podcasts, reading books and magazines (I've just signed up for a month's trial of Readly for 99p and there are hundreds of magazines), learn to crochet, colouring, make endless Pinterest boards...

Recipes and meal planning is a great idea! I love cooking and can't wait to get back in the kitchen. I could have pages of plans ready Grin

Would your dd colour in with you when mine were younger and had periods of unwellness they would colour in or those scratch art things. I had no focus for knitting or crafty stuff so was reading take a break and tv mostly

Radio 4 comedy on the iPlayer radio app you’re in for a treat if you’ve never heard any of it before!

How about some courses on Future Learn. They are free and some are only 3 weeks long. Really interesting too.
