Warm weather with kids. What do you do out the back?

What do you do out the back with your kids in the warm weather? Is there always water involved etc?

Or don’t they bother going out there when it’s warm?

We live in a flat so spend lots of time in the summer at my parents house in the back garden. There's an awning over the patio so there's always shade.

Sometimes DS has the paddling pool out but he really likes it when he's allowed to water the plants with the hose!
He spends most of the time in the sandpit with his construction toys
Or someone plays ball with him.
Or he helps my parents garden.

My parents are on top of a hill (windy) so it never gets too hot luckily.

Blanket over the washing line. Make a tent to eat lunch in, giving them a break from the sun.

We play football , he plays on the trampoline I get the paddling pool out or let him lose with a watering can

Padding pool
Sandpit
Painting the fence with water
Ball games
Painting / arts and craft outside

Do you have an outdoor pool/lido near where you live? These can be fun.

I have two under 3

I blow bubbles and get them to shoot them with water pistols or catch them in a net (this is their absolute favourite activity).

They play in a little playhouse

The make me cakes out of soil

We do chalk drawing on the patio and on the garage doors

I've got a big roll of paper that I roll out and get the washable poster paints out and they paint or do hand prints and I don't have to worry too much about cleaning up after them.

We 'water the plants' with water pistols

We have picnics. Pretend and real ones.

I have a 2 and 4 year old. I fill a washing up bowl with water and they play tea parties with water and their tea set or pretending to wash up or bathing their babies. I have little watering cans for watering the plants. ‘Painting’with water. So yes lots of water! I also let them draw with chalks on the patio because it soon washes off the bricks when it rains.

My kids (especially the four yr old) bounce on the trampoline, play with the water moat thing he got for his birthday which has a sort of lock system for water. Bikes and scooters, watch the bees, search for insects, play on the swings, ride cars down the slide. We’ve also got swing ball which I like playing with and badminton racquets and a net.

Love a day in the garden!

Lots of water balloons. I've discovered that the ones sold in pound shops are often made from natural latex, so biodegradable.

We run a watering can over the slide to turn it into a water slide.

Sprinkler attached to a hose on the grass.

When mine were smaller I found the paddling pool a right PITA, takes ages to inflate and fill and they lost interest quite quickly. But the sprinkler was so much easier to set up and they had fun with it.

Also - those chunky playground chalks.

swing-ball and elastics!
