What would you expect them to do about my new chair?

Exciting stuff I know ...

We bought a new suite for our living room and it was delivered in March. We saved up for ages for it and it cost us quite a lot of money (for us) but we wanted something that we felt would last. (Had the old one 16 years). One of the zips on one of the chairs is broken - I noticed it because the chair looks 'wrinkly' and not right at all. I rang the company and she said that they would send someone out 'to see if there is anything we can do', but certainly didn't offer any assurances that they were of a mind to repair or replace.

What would you expect them to do after a little under 3 months?

Repair or replace - unless you have done it, they are liable.

I believe recent changes in The Consumer Goods Act means stuff has to be fit for purpose for 12 months. Not 100% sure though so google it.

I wouldn’t get my knickers in a twist about it. Because they can come and have a look, then either fix it or replace it. Simple

Well I wouldn't say that I have Grin,but as I said, we saved up for this and it cost us a lot of money. I had expected them to immediately say they would repair or replace so was a little surprised at them saying they would see IF they could do anything.

is to cover the small possibility you might have completely ruined it yourself and are trying to get a replacement.

If they try to wriggle out of fixing it then just quote your rights per the sales of goods act. Martin Lewis money saving expert website really helpful.

I used to work in furniture retail, they will have an upholsterer/repair person who specialises in complaints/faults. So the person you spoke to "just" takes the call and passes it on. They cannot commit until it's seen. They will probably offer a repair or a replacement. If they offer a repair make sure you tell them that if you have a future problem you would like a replacement. I know this is a big thing to you but it's not to them so don't worry
