DDs laptop had an issue where the mouse stopped working. In order to get it working she updated the laptop to the new version of windows.
The laptop memory suddenly seemed to be completely full then and she has had to delete everything off it in order to re download her beloved Sims game.
She’s not been able to do this and when I tried to wipe it all clean it says that there additional disk space needed.
She’s saying there’s nothing on there now - she’s deleted everything so why is the laptop full? Any ideas please? I’m not tech savvy and dont know where to start

Can you run something that like CCleaner (free app to download)? I wonder if the cache's are full of some random useless files. I know on a mac its available but not sure if on PC but there will be something similar to that you could use if not (have a google). Also clear out the trash if you haven't already.

How old is the laptop? 60gb for a hard drive seems very small. Think mine is 500gb. And lots are 1tb which I think is 1000gb.

Does it have a solid state drive or an ordinary hard drive?

I'm sorry but I don't think there's much you can do with a harddrive of that size. Some of our laptops at work are 120 gigs and they are a nightmare. Can you possibly roll back to the version of Windows you were on previously? The mouse problem might have been a bad driver.

It was bought in February as a laptop to do some school work on. I’ve just looked at the listing and it is advertised as a 64gb laptop but until DD downloaded the recent windows update there didn’t seem to be an issue.
I guess I’ll have to see if it can be expanded with extra hard drive.

This is the listing

Would something like this work please? Does the laptop recognise this plugged in and automatically drop files into that or would I have to manually move the files over?

I'm surprised she upgraded easily, as you can no longer use the “Get Windows 10” tool to upgrade from Windows 7, or 8.

What did she use to do it?

external drives are seen as a different computer drive...so you just pick save in "e" drive or whatever for any files. Thats for word, ppt, etc.....not 100% sure if SIMS would be the same but I assume so.
