I know the rules about burns, did this on the inside of the oven do I need to go tonight?

No. Just keep it under cold running water for as long as you can stand. Don't put any creams or anything on it.

TheInvestigator · 24/06/2019 20:43

I wouldn't take that to the hospital. I burn myself with hot metal a fair bit (hazard of the job) and that wouldn't get me to the hospital. Cool or tepid water for 20-30 minutes and then a burn dressing.

Nooob · 24/06/2019 21:01

I don't think you need to go to A&E with that unless you feel like you need to. I'd just be running it under cold water, no creams or wraps and a couple of paracetamol if it hurts really bad.

GinasGirl · 24/06/2019 21:05

No, I've done similar on the inside of my oven more than once. Keep it under cold water for ages though, I think I remember a nurse friend telling me that people never do that for long enough..

WarmSausageTea · 24/06/2019 21:08

I believe that tepid water is better, because you’ll be able to tolerate it for longer than cold water.

Hope it gets better quickly.

It's shrunk to a 50p size, I think I'll survive!

Looking lovely now, is a blister plaster ok for a burn or leave it open overnight?

Leave it open

YesQueen · 24/06/2019 21:54

If it's still painful then you can loosely cover with clingfilm which should help

TheInvestigator · 24/06/2019 21:55

Cling film. Don't wrap tightly; just cover the top of it and use tape/platers to stick it down.

QuestionableMouse · 24/06/2019 22:00

If it's completely cold I'd cover it with a light bandage to protect the skin as it will be very delicate. A Vaseline dressing may help to keep it moist and stop the blister from going horrible.

Disclaimer - I'm not a medic, just basing it on what the nurse did to the scald on my hand. (did it at work so got sent to A&E)

TheInvestigator · 24/06/2019 22:04

A bandage will just rub and irritate the burn blister, unless you have burn cream and dressing to place under it. NHS guidelines are cling film. It covers it, but won't rub.

QuestionableMouse · 24/06/2019 22:23

Which is why I said to use a dressing.

Davros · 25/06/2019 00:10

You wouldn't seriously go to A&E with that would you??!!!

Flower777 · 25/06/2019 00:50

That looks really sore OP ☹️ I hope it heals really fast. Are you in much pain?
