Has anyone been to Bluestone Park in Wales?

Trying to plan a family holiday in September and have come across Bluestone Park in Wales - has anyone been and can recommend?

It will just be me, DH and DD3.5 going and what we are after is something with activity options to keep DD entertained in easy reach, so water park, soft play etc would be good. Decent food options and hopefully somewhere that we can just take it easy and enjoy time together - so the resort/holiday park style break feels like it would tick a lot of boxes but we have never been on one before!

Throw any other suggestions of locations at me. Already considered Center Parcs but I know people who work there and even they admit it's expensive for what you get!

We went a few years ago and we had a lovely time. Our DD was at a similar age and she really enjoyed it, plus its in such a beautiful area. We went to Tenby for the day.

Yes, we've been twice. Kids were 5 weeks ans 20 months the first time and 2 and 3 the second. Loads to keep you busy without having to pay for anything but we did camp smokey and a kids theatre thinf which was great and not too expensive. Tenby is close for a nice town and beach. Order a Tesco shop to pick up on your way from the closest town.

Good to know about Tenby and the Tesco shop to pick up on the way is a genius idea - thanks!

Yes we have been and loved it. Much prefer it to centreparcs. We also did Tesco shop on way and day trip to Tenby!

Bluestone used to be lovely, much much better than Centerparcs. More recently it has become a bit tatty - the lodges are a little battered and the food you can buy there is terrible.

It's still a nice place, but prepare to pay high prices for sticky tables.

Also, avoid Oakwood next door, it's absolutely terrible these days. I live very local and it's a laughing stock. Folly Farm is much better.

There's a definite holiday vibe on here this morning! Can I ask (whilst I'm here!) if anyone recommend it for older children too?

MamamaMadness · 24/06/2019 09:39

Oh, and there are SO many nicer beaches than Tenby which is all a bit stag night these days. I loathe Tenby - though it depends what you're looking for I suppose!

Yes, Bluestone is great for older children. There is lots to do, the pool, activities, a building with a high-ropes course, climbing, mini golf etc. Lots of walking, a little amusement arcade. Prepare to pay extra for absolutely everything though.

Saundersfoot beach is lovely. We went to Bluestone at Easter our third time but first since kids were older (9 and 12). Helped we had lovely weather and we still enjoyed it. Agree food is geared around families. Lodges have become more worn, our sofa was torn but we complained and they replaced it straight away. Get the feeling many people stay on site but Pembrokeshire is beautiful and would encourage anyone to explore further afield.

We went two weeks ago. We went to the beach on our way there which was great and the kids really enjoyed it. Unfortunately the weather was rubbish for the time we were at bluestone so couldn't make much use of the outside facilities. We tended to go swimming in the mornings and to the adventure centre in the afternoons. The swimming pool is great for 2yr old and under or for over 1m tall. My youngest is 3 and he got bored a bit quick in the little nippers pool but was too short to go on the slides. He did enjoy the lazy river though and all the pools are lovely and warm. The adventure centre is great with mini golf, a soft play apparatus for under 5's, a larger play structure for the older ones, a bouncy castle, and an arcade. My kids really enjoyed it there. We self catered for most of the holiday but we did camp smokey on the last night which was (expensive but) BRILLIANT!!! Highly recommend. In terms of paid for activities to book for the little ones there isn't much available and it gets booked up quickly but we were happy with the free stuff available. On the last day we went to Oakwood and I wish we had gone to folly farm instead. Oakwood was horrendously expensive and the rides were old and some just didn't feel safe because of how run down they were.

Good to hear from a local @MamamaMadness thanks! I've just looked up folly farm and that looks like a good option for a day out.
