Why do they use so much packaging? I only buy when the special deal is on so now ive got loads of boxes and no room!

Apparently some people buy them empty on eBay! I usually just recycle mine, you can request your order to be sent without boxes I think.

DrinkSangriaInThePark · 23/06/2019 15:19

Recycle them, like anything else?

MarthasGinYard · 23/06/2019 15:24

I've stored some bits and bobs in them. Photo's, tea lights, ribbons etc.

They are too nice to just recycle with the newspapers.Grin

Rystall · 23/06/2019 15:28

I used to use mine to store Lego. But then I ended up with about 40 small boxes which looked really cluttered so now I just put them straight into recycling. I’m sure you could ask for less packaging the next time you purchase?

bigtoes · 23/06/2019 15:32

I always request no packaging! If not, recycle!
Or maybe use in your bathroom for storing cotton pads/buds?

EachandEveryone · 23/06/2019 15:37

I do request that they arent gifts so no separate packaging but i still have loads

I use them for presents, as I do with any nice boxes I get. I spray them silver, gold or colours, inside and out, and they look great under the Christmas tree or tied up with ribbon on birthdays.

twilightcafe · 23/06/2019 16:19

Use them as storage boxes on my dressing table. Or give them to DD (8)

PinkysEars · 23/06/2019 16:38

I use them to post fragile things in (eBay). They're very strong.

Happysummer2020 · 23/06/2019 19:05

Always ask for no packaging of it's for myself. Lovely as it is, I hate to be throwing it away as soon as I get home.

Midsummer2019 · 23/06/2019 19:08

Sell them on eBay. Instagrammers etc actually buy empty fancy packaging to pretend they own luxury brands. I kid you not!

bigbeans · 24/06/2019 09:47

Ha! How much do they go for? Grin

ssd · 24/06/2019 10:30

God that's tight selling empty boxes....

Does anyone know when the next Jo malone grabber game is on?

MarthasGinYard · 24/06/2019 10:31

Ssd

Nooooooo

I can't cope with more grabber game Shock

Thertruthisoutwhere · 24/06/2019 11:22

Omg I didn't know that! I just recycle mine, could have made some dosh!
Wonder what other boxes people want to buy... I use big ones as storage but bet people would buy designer carry bags too.

EachandEveryone · 24/06/2019 13:27

I wonder how much it costs to post them?

OP posts:
Magpiefeather · 24/06/2019 13:29

Separate lid and box part and use as drawer dividers!

Midsummer2019 · 24/06/2019 14:25

Sadly, I don't have designer boxes to sell.....but it does amuse me that there's a market for it!

And if you can make a few quid, then why not? Good for whoever manages to sell them :-0

LemonSqueezy0 · 24/06/2019 14:44

When I was at school, I used to treasure a "posh" carrier bag I got from the girlfriend of my older brother... I used to carry my school lunch in it, and twirl it round so people could see. I must have used it for months and months, until it finally gave way... I cringe now, but at the time I felt it lent me an air of elegance Wink

EachandEveryone · 24/06/2019 17:12

Is there a grabber before Xmas I wonder

OP posts:
ssd · 25/06/2019 09:16

I phoned them yesterday to ask, I have no shame... They didn't do the grabber this year, they did a digital game??
The nice lady at JMHQ said look out for something in the autumn as these promotions are done twice a year..

TBH I think I seen the digital thingy but you had to spend loads to get anything and it wasn't a patch on the grabber.

I once sold a load of empty CD cases for more than the cost of the CD-ROMs that they came in. The mind boggles.

Exactly. A lot of packaging like this is too nice to throw away and if people are willing to buy it, what's the harm?

For the poster who asked about postage, if the boxes are more than an inch thick, they'd have to go as a parcel and the cheapest way is probably a Post Office small parcel for about £3. You might get Yodel or MyHermes for a similar price, but in any case, as they're quite light, you could probably post a few for that price, so for the OP, I'd probably list them all on eBay as a job lot, 99 p start plus £3 postage and expect to get a tenner or so for them. If you have more than about half a dozen, maybe do in batches.

Lemon, I think that was a Thing... Back in the day.

DobbyTheHouseElk · 25/06/2019 09:44

I used a River Island bag for my PE kit. T’was all the rage then. When River Island was a different shop to today. All wooden floors and decoupage.
