Quick question about children's temperatures!

Sorry, I know I shouldn't seek advice via Mumsnet but I thought it might be quite simple Blush

Basically, DS isn't responding to ibuprofen. I haven't got any calpol.

He's had a temp all day when I was at work but it responded to pain killers. Now it isn't tonight and I can't seem to get it down, he just gets hotter it seems.

He's in a nappy just. DH has just come up to settle him and he's stopped crying, I'm just popping in the shower.

Should I just leave him until the morning and see how he is then?

I can't give him anymore ibuprofen because he's had his lot for the 24 hour period, it says.

Thank you Thanks

I'd call 111 for an uncontrollable fever

What actually is his temperature?

Smotheroffive · 22/06/2019 02:17

What temp?
Give him calpol too (go get some from 24 hour)
Don't go to sleep and leave it till morning.
Keep him with you. Its warm enough to go outside to make sure he cools off, without chilling him.

Smotheroffive · 22/06/2019 02:18

If its a fever he may have something more serious so you need to be in touch with doctors

foryourown · 22/06/2019 02:19

I can't find the thermometer so I don't know what his temp actually is.

I can't get to a 24 hour chemist, there certainly isn't one nearby at all

If you haven't got s thermometer how do you know his temp is raised? Is he hot to touch? I would be ringing 111 for advice.

managedmis · 22/06/2019 02:25
Confused

Is he lethargic? Sweating? Has he been drinking plenty of water?

foryourown · 22/06/2019 02:30

He's very hot to touch, yes. Obviously I don't have any official indicator he has a temp but he feels very hot when I touch him.

No sweating, no. I can't really tell if he's lethargic since it's 2.30am! But he's asleep now with DH

Well, regardless of anything else, tomorrow buy a thermometer and calpol. Do you not have a large asda or tesco in driving distance?

alohadaisy · 22/06/2019 03:09

What were you hoping that we could advise you OP?
He's had all ibuprofen and you don't have any calpol or a thermometer...

Roselinemac · 22/06/2019 09:31

How is he this morning? As previous post suggested buy a thermometer today.

Smotheroffive · 22/06/2019 11:14

You do know that theres no need to find a 24 hour chemist?

If you and your partner are so worried (worried enough for you to post for help) why have neither of you gone out to get calpol or a thermometer.

I mean how do you know his temp is not coming down when you dont have a thermometer.

Dc can feel really hot and not have a temp, and have a dangerously high temp and feel 'dry', unsweaty!

The level of his temp will help tell you/gp what potentially your ds is suffering with and whether he needs more help.
