Gammy burnt arm

cjt110 · 20/06/2019 20:20

Burnt myself on Sunday on the oven shelf. Applied cold water. It blistered. Blister popped.

Have had wound dressings on it. Hydrocolloid ones. Left it to air. Cleaned it. Applied cream.

Its vile and looks bllody awful and is so sore. This was it Sunday compared to now...

Would you see a nurse?

Yes!!

AltheaVestr1t · 20/06/2019 20:25

Is it hot? That’s a sure sign of infection.

nocoolnamesleft · 20/06/2019 20:25

Suspect that was deeper than you thought. I'd get seen.

Was hot yesterday but not today.

Have left it uncovered today but it's so sore.

Yes it needs properly dressing and checking for infection.

BlueSkiesLies · 20/06/2019 21:00

Uo to you but I’d whack antiseptic cream on and a Hydrocolloid dressing and then leave it be. It doesn’t need to air, that’s old school thinking.

Crunchymum · 20/06/2019 21:04

Superficial burns are notoriously easy to become infected.

You need to you GP.

IceBearRocks · 20/06/2019 21:05

Yep I'd just dress it!!! That's all the nurse will do? Honey dressing wil work really well on this !

WhenZogateSuperworm · 20/06/2019 21:09

I would just cover it and leave it be. But I very really seek medical attention for things.

You will get a scar. I burnt my arm on the iron months ago and it looked very much like yours and it’s left a red scar.

BatFacedGirl · 20/06/2019 21:13

Looks like it's healing to me. I'd just leave it and see how it goes for a few days unless it's hot and showing obvious signs of infection

orangeshoebox · 20/06/2019 21:13

tbh it doesn't look too bad, looks like it's healing.
I think I would disinfect and put a blister plaster on and leave it. but I usually can't be arsed to get to the drs so I'm probably the wrong one for advice.

UncomfortableSilence · 20/06/2019 21:13

Don't put any creams etc on it. I got third degree burns last year and the burns unit said you must not put anything on burns.

Mine was dressed with a jelonet dressing but yours does look deep so would be worth getting your GP or Practice Nurse to look at it.

And the pain was the one of the worst I've ever had but I was told that is a good sign as no pain means deeper damage.

ExpletiveDelighted · 20/06/2019 21:17

I would see a nurse too. I haven't heard the word gammy in many years!

How is your arm OP?
