Going to London next week for few days with dc, just wondering if its Jeans/ raincoat weather or shorts/tshirt ?? I live in Ireland and our summer has not arrived yet. We are still in our jeans/ jumpers ...its wet and freezing here.... but don't want to bring them if sun will be splitting stones??

Not to state the obvious, but maybe check a forecast? It's been cool and rainy here for the past week, but the forecast I saw suggested temperatures increasing significantly next week, but with a risk of thunderstorms.

I did enterparentone ( accuweather) , and it is saying it'll be 18- 21 degrees, but it's being saying that for us too but its freezing!

Ignore accuweather it uses the American GFS model which is not very accurate for UK. Go to the MetOffice website or download their app. It’s much more accurate.

Early forecast is showing 28-30*C in London for early next week ☀️

I'm just outside London. For the past week or so it's been cloudy and rainy. I've been mainly wearing jeans and leggings and a long sleeve top. It's certainly not been shirts and flip flops weather! Central London does always tend to be a few degrees warmer and next week looks like being much hotter. I'd pack for all eventualities if I were you!

It's been warm and rainy most this week. It's annoying weather, too hot for much of a jacket on the tube but then it buckets down.
Supposed to be drier next week.

LittleLongDog · 20/06/2019 17:54

I would wait closer to the time and wear layers. It’s been muggy warm one minute and windy and spitting the next.

KindergartenKop · 20/06/2019 19:58

Jeans, t-shirt, bring a jacket for chills/showers.

ShivD · 20/06/2019 20:32

It’s saying 30 degrees for Wednesday so bring some hot weather stuff too!

I'm in London and this is the BBC forecast Shock

forecast appears to fecking boiling.

Look at the Daily Express website. Note very well that 40% of the main daily headline is about the weather. Cross-reference the headline to the Met Office. Note how different the language seems.

Met Office: warm humid weather may bring the occasional thundery shower.

Daily Express: Met Office predicts three decades of rain will land in 20 minutes and flash floods will wash away houses amid tropical heatwave.

Take clothes according to Met Office

Thank you all. It is so frustrating as I'm packing for 6 people so big difference if we only need t-shirts and shorts! We normally go to U.S , France or Spain but have a family wedding next weekend in London so plan to stay for week. Was hoping we wouldn't need rain jackets, jeans etc as heavy to carry but if it's anything like weather in Ireland, that's what we'll need. Will try Met office again Wednesday before we go!

Shorts and T-shirt

palahvah · 23/06/2019 19:04

I've been out and about today in shorts, vest and trainers, with a light long-sleeved top which I only needed in the air-conditioned train. Was otherwise quite muggy. On Thursday evening I wore jeans, a shirt, and ballet pumps and stood outside the pub - was cool in the breeze so I wrapped a pashmina round me (god that sounds so sloaney).
You won't need loads of warm layers, and certainly not heavy jackets bit waterproof layers would be a good plan.
The tube is always roasting.
