I've just found this App called Refill and it tells you nearby places which will refill your water bottle so you don't have to potentially buy a plastic one!

I thought I would share for anyone else experiencing single use plastic guilt...

My local Waitrose has a sticker on the window about this

Excellent. I've never asked for a refill because I'd feel cheeky walking into a shop or cafe and getting water without buying anything.

It's a right old dilemma isn't it? We want to avoid plastic so drink tap water out of refillable bottles, but then all the shops, including small independent shops and cafes, not just big chains, are losing a valuable source of income if we don't buy bottled water.

I suppose that they'll hope that people will buy food, either because they want some, or feel obliged to, but I don't want to be buying food that I don't really want, because it's a waste of money and most of it is unhealthy food that I don't want to eat.

Come to think of it, prepared food and drink may start to become socially unacceptable and there may be a reduction in the number of places selling it as they have been making money from selling mostly unhealthy overpackaged food and drink that leads to a lot of waste and contributing to people becoming overweight.

There's also wateratairports.com/ which lists where you can find water fountains in airports so you can take an empty refillable bottle instead of buying a plastic bottle after security.
