Been looking into getting shampoo bars, bit am unsure of which are good?

Do any of you recommend any?

I have quite dry hair.

I want to use them too but don't know which to use either so watching with interest.
I don't like lush stuff and in the past I have found the staff unhelpful to the point of been rude.
( I asked where a particular product was and was told ' in the corner ' )

I've only tried the lush one and tbh I'm not overly impressed. To me it doesn't feel as if I'm washing my hair thoroughly enough and leaves a film on the hair.

I normally use one from The Friendly Soap Company. I buy them online and they deliver very quickly.

There's a recent thread about this, probably in Style and Beauty. Try a search? I would myself but I'm on my phone and I'm laboriously slow at pecking at my onscreen keyboard.

I'm using Beauty Kubes, they're good but I have to use Argan oil too (I have to with everything though).

I use Ma Provence shampoo. It's available online in the UK, but I buy in bulk when I go to France where it's much cheaper than Lush. They smell lovely (but not at Lush volumes!) and are SLS free. They also have a hole in the middle so you can put some string through so they dry hanging and don't go slimy!

I’ve had two different Lush ones, Jason and the argan oil is pretty good but I’m not as keen on the Godiva one. I do like one I got from Amazon called Shine On. My hair is just below my collar bone so not particularly long but it is coloured a different find both the shine on and Jason, both make it feel nice and clean without any residue.
I’m not doing so well finding solid conditioner. I’ve got two different lush ones, one is very strong smelling and the other left my hair difficult to comb but I’ll persevere to see if it improves with use.

I use the wild sage company one. I really like it and it works very well.

I currently use the Queen Bee bar from Honey Bee Beautiful, which is brilliant!
www.honeybeebeautiful.co.uk/collections/hair-products/products/queen-bee-shampoo-bar
There is no residue at all after using it.
They also have a Gentle Bee bar, which is conditioning as well, and I have that to try next

WanderingTrolley1 · 19/06/2019 09:51

Lush do some good ones.

BlackInk · 19/06/2019 10:07

I've tried a few brands, but the only ones that work for me are the Lush ones. All the others I've tried leave my hair feeling dry and sticky and looking awful. My hair is long, curly and dry.

I also use Lush conditioner bars - only use a little and rinse very well.

It's definitely much more expensive that buying bottles of shampoo and conditioner.

Three of us get through a shampoo bar a month easily, and the Lush ones are about £7.

In my experience, i had to try a few before i found the one that suits my hair.
I started with lush, which were horrid.
Then i used a friendly soap bar, which was ok.
Now i use the dr bronners baby soap bar, which suits my hair perfectly, and i have much nicer hair than i had when i used traditional shampoo/conditioner.
During the transition period and when i was still finding 'the one', i used diluted apple cider vinegar to rinse my hair, as it stopped that weird, greasy feeling and helped condition it. Now, i just use the soap bar by itself.
So, i would suggest that if the first one or two that you try, don't work, don't give up.

Another vote for the lush bars. I find they clean my hair beautifully.

I particularly like the seaweed one.

MyKingdomforaNameChange · 19/06/2019 14:16

The Coconut and Lime one from www.rockways-online.co.uk is fab for dry hair. I use it myself on my long, dry and tangly hair, and don't ever need conditioner as well.

Wild earth beauty have great shampoo bars. I used to have bad psoriasis on my scalp and had to use a lot of conditioner on frizzy curly hair just to get it tied up but from using this 2/3 times a week- psoriasis clearing up, hair sits nice when it's dried naturally with minimal input, no greasy days. I am so annoyed at myself for taking so long to try the bars. Those ones lather up really well. Lasts longer than I'd have thought too. I looked at reviews for a few brands before trying any. Only tried these ones and they're honestly fantastic. They've also got a good charcoal soap which quickly cleared up my back acne I've had since a teen so for around 16 years.
