Hiya, I am looking to get some advice on a new business making baby hampers. I wanted to get some advice on the types of things that would be good to put in there and how much you think a reasonable amount would be to price them?

Also, where would be the best place to sell them? I have made some and put them on facebook marketplace but haven't had much interest and I am wondering whether that is due to the hampers, the price or I'm just pitching to the wrong crowd?

I am also thinking about making some handmade crocheted booties/hats and blankets to go in them as a USP. Do you think this is something that people would like?

It would be really helpful to get your feedback, happy to share pictures or more info on the hampers if it helps.

Thanks in advance! :)

I think a lot of it depends on your target audience. Are the parents heathly lifestyle type ie non bleached cotton babygros / Terry nappies/ no plastic etc or a bit more relaxed is cheep cheerful baby-grows/ disposable nappies plastic teething rings dummies etc )
In Scotland ( I think ) they do a baby box type thing for all new DM/DDs. Maybe you could take some inspiration from there.

Are the boxes designed to be bought by the DPs , so practical stuff , or as a gift for them by friend so slightly more frivolous.

@sambeckett I see them as a gift from a friend or family member so it is mainly clothes, blankets, toys etc. It is really aimed at the more relaxed cheap and cheerful, although the clothes and blankets are good quality.

I'm wondering if there is no real USP here and that's why there isn't a lot of interest. That's why I am wondering if the handmade stuff might help?

I think your main problem would be is it so easy to go and pick up things for babies now all big supermarkets sell them as well as the usual chemist type places your hamper would have to have something Special in it to attract buyers.
The handmade stuff might do that could you try selling them separately first to see how well that takes off.
So you could knit wooly hats and offer a free bib or something similar and then increase the amount of extra stuff bit by bit if it works
