Is this chickenpox? (Please say no...!)

DS (13 weeks) came out with a weird solitary welt on his leg yesterday afternoon. He was due his 12 week injections anyway, so I took him down to the GP and asked the nurse to take a look. Neither her or the HV knew what it was, and nor did the GP who they called in for a 3rd opinion. None of them thought it was a pox. GP has prescribed a steroid cream and told me to keep an eye on it.

Got a call this morning from SIL who said that one of the DNephews has come down with chickenpox- had one spot yesterday and woke up looking like a Jackson Pollock this morning. We see them every 2/3 weeks, so both our DC will have been in contact while he was infectious.

DS still only has one spot. DD has nothing. I’m on tenterhooks- if it was CP, surely there would be more by now? Do I keep both DC in the house to avoid exposing my poxy children to the general public? My sister is pregnant and DM has just finished treatment for cancer- how long should I keep them away from them?

The NHS website unsurprisingly doesn’t answer my very specific questions!

Looks too big to be pox. My 2 have just had them (3yo and 20 week old) and both started out looking like mosquito bites, red and raised before they became blistered.

Molloscum contagiosm?

Just looks like a blister to me. Like 'Hmmm'said too big for chickenpox. GP would've identified cp easily I'd have thought.

It doesn’t look red enough to be poxy, though that’s purely opinion.

When my eldest went down with pox she spotted under a dozen blisters across her trunk. She was most disgusted to be off school.

Hope it’s not causing your son any discomfort.

That’s what I though, Manu.

Because of the situation with my mum, I’m very conscious of trying to limit the people we expose if it is CP, so I’m happy to put us under self imposed house arrest. However, if it’s not I’d really prefer not to!
