Hostess gifts

We're going to stay with friends shortly who are going to a lot of trouble to put a lot of people up. I'd like to bring them a decent gift to thank them, and am happy to spend up to £100.

Any suggestions? I don't know their taste well enough to choose interior accessories, which lots of the guides online seem to be focused on.

How about a nice hamper of goodies for them to enjoy once you go home?

Some great ideas here, thank you. Love the idea of a potted tree for the garden

If you buy them alcohol make sure you know what they drink.

For years I was regifting nice white wine because I kept getting given it - by people who'd only ever seen me drink red, too!

A hamper sounds lovely though. Or a voucher for a meal at a restaurant you know they like? I wouldn't presume to buy them something like a tree as that's quite a personal taste thing and they can't exactly discreetly bin it when you have left if they don't like it.

Champagne would be my 'go to' present in this situation but the hamper sounds like a great idea and is something I'd love to receive.

A potted rose. A proper large shrub one from David Austin, not one of those nasty little miniature things from supermarkets.
