Hi! I know this is asked all the time and I'm always in awe of everyone and their fab imaginations... mine is shite.

I make chocolates and I'm going to start to actually do it properly but I need a name and I am awful at things like this.

I'd like to incorporate my daughters name, Grace, or something to do with where we live, Newcastle, and I don't want anything too twee or wanky. Please help me... thank you!!!!

I'm crap with this kind of thing too but I'm bumping so the creatives might see it!

chocolatiers · 17/06/2019 21:45

Haha! Thank you!! I've asked so many people and this is my best hope!

Tyne on Chocolate?

topcat2014 · 17/06/2019 22:05

Bear in mind, whatever you pick, you will probably find yourself needing to spell out website/email addresses over the phone.

If you choose something with an unusual spelling you might find that difficult.

Not sure all callers to your company would manage (for example) to take down an address like:

[email protected] correctly.

Who are your customers?
What would people google to find your address.
A lot of successful businesses actually describe their business in their name. - remember "carphone warehouse".

Wedding Chocolates R US would at least say what you did.

Grace of Newcastle, by contrast, would not.

wowfudge · 17/06/2019 23:36

I would write down the most ridiculous names you can think of, plus the most straightforward then see if you can bridge the gap, e.g. Geordie Grace's Chocs, The Choc on the Tyne and House of Grace Chocolatier. Actually House of Grace could be okay. House of Grace Fine Chocolates, House of Grace Tearooms. Think about your business plan and how any name you choose now can adapt for any diversification of products. Also think about continuing the theme of the name in your product line, e.g. Grace truffle, Elegance praline, etc. If you go with a Newcastle themed name then Toon truffle, etc.

Anything special about the chocolate?
Gluten free?
Egg free?
Etc
Something that could be added to the name.
