I can never remember which of two dates my wedding anniversary is. Neither can DH. We either have to wait to see which day our parents congratulate us, or check back to see which if the two was a Saturday back in 2005.
Whats your one thing that makes you feel like an irresponsible teen still?

I don't know what excess means on insurance. I sort our insurance out but run the policy past DP to check it's a good deal.

TooMinty · 16/06/2019 22:19

I still put crisps in my sandwiches. Won't ever grow out of that!

ChipsAreLife · 16/06/2019 22:58

I have no idea how to put water in my car

BikeRunSki · 16/06/2019 23:00

I recently taught the dc (7, 10) to out crisis in their sandwhiches. One was horrified, one was delighted.

StealthPolarBear · 17/06/2019 06:05

If you have to teach your children that then you've failed as a parent. It should be as natural as breathing

I'm still surprised at how many kitchen bins I've bought....

MsMarvellous · 17/06/2019 06:14

Whenever I do the big shop I pick up sweets for the kids. Then a pack of DH favourite and a sherbet fountain for me. I love eating it although it's not made of paper that gets soggy and mushy anymore.

lovesawindyday · 17/06/2019 06:24

i had to ring my mum to ask her how to cook beef yesterday, i have my own
home kids and a responsible job but i can't cook for shit.

PuddleglumtheMarshWiggle · 17/06/2019 08:17

I have my own paddling pool! I'm 55 and last summer, in the heatwave, I was moaning that as we are now empty nesters there is no longer any chance to paddle. So dh went out and bought me my own pool.
I love him! Grin

Gingernaut · 17/06/2019 08:27

I'm 51.

I can't drive, listen to Planet Rock and Kerrang when I'm doing my cross stitch and really don't feel like a grown up.

People occasionally look to me to make rational decisions and I can make them, but if my boss calls me over, my stomach somersaults.

Gingernaut · 17/06/2019 08:28

And I have two foam kneelers.

I teach at a university and when my colleagues complain about students not paying attention in lectures, I feel more affinity with the students than my colleagues Blush

MrsMoastyToasty · 17/06/2019 16:17

I will fill up on sweets and biscuits before dinner.
Therefore I cannot possibly be counted as a grown up.

BearSoFair · 17/06/2019 16:27

My adulting fail is that I need DH's help to change the double duvet cover. DC's single beds, absolutely fine, but the double one just beats me every time! One time a few years ago somehow I ended up in the cover as well as the duvet Blush Blush

@PhilipMarlow I haven't quite got the hang of periods yet. I'm 46 so they'll probably stop before I'm a proper grown-up.

I have always thought that a proper grown up way of dealing with periods is to mark in your diary the date your period is expected so that a) you can arrange holidays etc without wondering if you'll be 'on' b) you know to wear comfy knickers and carry sanpro the day you're due and c) you know immediately if you're late. You should always also ensure that the bathroom cabinet is neatly stocked with appropriate tampons/towels at all times.

I have always vowed to start doing this next month, at which stage I will feel like a proper grown up woman. I have 2 (planned) DC and have am now post menopausal- so will never actually get round to achieving this.

Aroundtheworldin80moves · 17/06/2019 17:27

I ca never remember how old DH&I are. In my head we are still 25 at most, just graduated etc. DH finds at hilarious that I have to work out my age.

managedmis · 17/06/2019 17:47

I sometimes stick my tongue out at the kids then remember I'm not supposed to....

Likethebattle · 17/06/2019 18:00

@OneOfOurOwn put a sticker on the inside of the fuel flap....grown up tip!

S0CKS · 17/06/2019 18:36

I cant look after my own passport it will definitely get put into a pocket somewhere and i won't be able to present it when required dh takes it off me when we get on the plane last time i had to have both i had to show him where exactly they was and was told not to loose them.. All in a very jokey way of course... He knows i would loose his if he was mean

BikeRunSki · 17/06/2019 20:18

@PhilipMarlowe and @lovelygreenjumper

I am 48. Periods still come as a bit of a surprise. I can always remember/work back to the date of the previous one, but I have never marked them in a diary, tried to predict when the next one is due, planned around it. That’s just too grown up!!

ReginaGeorgeous · 17/06/2019 20:29

My daughter starts reception this year, and today I've had to get my mum to sew name tags into her newly purchased uniform because I am inept.

Cherrysoup · 17/06/2019 20:38

My mum has to remind me about family birthdays Blush I’m hoping most are now on recurring reminders on my phone.

I also still like pick ‘n’ mix. 😀

marriednotdead · 17/06/2019 20:48

I am 53. I own and fly a diamond shaped kite with a ribbon tail. DP was massively impressed whenever I first took him out to fly it and has since bought one for himself (how you know you've met the right bloke!)
I have my gloves on strings through my coat so I don't lose them. In fairness I'd lost 2 gloves inside a month and they are always leather so the expense was getting ridiculous.

Stompythedinosaur · 17/06/2019 20:51

I sometimes have a childish stomp about if I am cold or hungry.
