What is the correct way to make tea, and how do you take your tea?

Hi all,
Bored so thought I would start a riotGrin.
The correct order:
Tea bag, sugar, water, press bag to get the tea out, remove bag, milk.

How I take my tea:
Not very strong, four sugars, not very much milk.
What about you?

@handbaghoarderr it is wrong in my opinion I should have said. You say you use teacups, so 4 sugars In a tea cup? Im assuming all you can taste is sugar.

Kin ell. 4 sugars? How many cups a day!

Assam Tea bag in mug
Boiling water
Leave for 3 minutes
Squeeze bag and remove
Splash of skimmed milk

My pot of tea... let's just ignore the fact that my sugar is in a Tupperware container as I lost my sugar bowl, and my milk jug doesn't match, the tea for one set only came with the pot, cup and saucer, and my gran gave me the milk jug... I'm going to return to the kitchen for biscuits...

The colour chart is fab! 3B for me. I haven't made tea in a pot for a long time, but do prefer it. My perfect cuppa is china cup and saucer, small amount of milk first, no sugar - need to stop being lazy and make it more often.

Good tea is not bitter and four sugars are unnecessary. I make around 50 cups of tea a day. Taking sugar is not the norm.

I don't really mind how you make it if you're making it for me. I prefer earl grey but drink most teas. You can put milk in when you like. Bag or pot.

Same with the whole jam or cream first debacle. I'm just can't get excited about something that usually tastes fine regardless.

It's so much easier to use a teapot. We have a large one and a one person one. Warm the pot, add the bag and boiling water ( and place on a tea cosy) and leave it for five minutes. There's no stirring the bag round or removing it and leaving a trail of drips. It's so much quicker when making tea for several people too. The tea also tastes so much nicer. I never understand why more people don't use them.

Just finished my pot of tea, didn't bother with biscuits because I'm lazy and couldn't be arsed going to the kitchenette to get them watching my weight.

bag in cup (prefer pyramid sachets as they are closer to loose tea)
boiling water in cup (5 min. for black tea, 3 min. for green)
squeeze bag and remove
occasionally a splash of milk

In a mug:
boiling water, add teabag, leave to brew for about 7-10 minutes, remove teabag if desired, drink as hot as possible, enjoy.

In a pot:
warm teapot, add tea leaves (one teaspoon per person plus one for the pot), leave to brew for about 5 minutes, pour through strainer into fancy tea cups, enjoy.

Milk and sugar are both wrong. Wrong wrong wrong.

Forgot to add boiling water to teapot. Do that after the tea leaves.

Empty kettle. Refill from tap. Boil.

When almost boiling, pour some water into pot to swirl around and heat it. Add loose leaf tea to pot. Take pot to kettle and pour boiling water onto tea leaves. Stir and leave to brew for 5 minutes.

Tiny splash of semi-skimmed milk in cup. Pour tea. Enjoy.

I like my tea strong & dark. Weak, sweet milky tea is disgusting.

Boil kettle, pour over teabag + 1 sweetener, skoosh it round a bit, remove teabag, drink.

(I gave up milk when doing allergy tests some years ago and now tea with milk taste really slimy!)

Do I get bonus MN points for the poisonous sweetener?

I am a tea nerd. Different types depending on the time of day and my mood, always loose leaf with a diffuser.
I have a shelf in my pantry with a variety, Black, green, mint and herbal, spiced, home-made and some people have brought me back from Furrin Parts that I’m not sure of...
And
I even have different sized and shaped tea pots and cups for different brews.

Morning is Oolong, splash of milk, no sugar, topped up with boiling water after it’s brewed because I need it hot not tepid.

Large mug, tea bag preferably Earl Grey in mug, boiled water from kettle, no milk and no sugar. Give it a decent dunk. If EG isn’t available I prefer much weaker tea, still no milk or sugar.

BUT I’m married to a man who takes so much milk it’s amazing it can still be called tea. He doesn’t like Earl Grey and he likes loose leaves in a pot. (In fact I’m thinking of knitting him a pot cosy for his birthday). Because I’m the only Earl Grey drinker in our household it seems pointless using loose leaves but I might try it some time though I’m perfectly happy with the humble tea bag (Morrison’s cheapest). He has some much worse habits so I can’t hold it against him that he likes adulterated tea so much.

Tea bag in mug, add boiling water, squeeze tea bag then take it out, add milk, stir.
I don't like strong tea and I like a fair bit of milk.
When I used to have sugar I'd put the sugar in at the same time as the teabag. But I stopped taking sugar 12 years ago, when I was 14.

I'm a milk in first, not to strong sorta gal. Fine to brew up in a cup but MUST be fine bone china.

I was taught by my amazing nan who was the world's biggest tea drinker. I lost her 7 years ago today so this thread seems very apt. I raise a cuppa to her and you lovely lot Brew

Fill the kettle and switch on.
When very hot pour into the pot, to warm it.
As the kettle is coming up to boil, empty the pot and add tea leaves.
One per person and one for the pot.
Let it brew for about 5 minutes.
Pour into china cups and add the milk and sugar if required.
Drink, leaving enough a bit at the bottom.
Swill round and empty cup onto the saucer
Then let me have a look Grin

I like my tea strong.

Tea bag in, hot water, milk, squeeze the tea bag, et voila.

Sugar in tea is horrid, haven’t had it since I was a child.

No teapot?

FOUR sugars. No wonder you decided not to bother with the biscuits.

That's not tea, that's hot sweet weak milk.

Although the 'teapot on the hob' method of others is genius to make sure the teapot is actually hot.

I would try that myself but our hob is induction and I don't think our teapot is compatible. It is metal with a nice solid bottom though, so might need to experiment.
