I know there are a number of threads already, but hoping to get info from people who have been recently.
We are planning for Christmas 2020. I have a significant birthday, as does DH and grandchild. Probably looking at 3 nights? Want to do the whole sleigh through the forest to meet Santa thing, but going around in circles at the moment in the planning.

Can anyone recommend either a package, or, preferably, individual components to book?

Would be very much appreciated 😁

I highly recommend booking it through Inghams, very easy to pick which excursions you want to add on.

Thanks shrek1978, will have a look.
Did you do any extras that you would recommend? Or any that you would never do again?
This will cost a bomb, so want to get it right 😁

I recommend Ingham's and I'd go for a week. 3 days is full on with little time for playing in the snow and chilling. Also make sure you don't go early December because you can't guarantee the snow will be there or deep enough for some activities.

It also cost £1k less to do a week than 3 days. Also lots of flights delayed so some people turned up a a day late on their three days and missed so much.

@Cabbagesoupsucks thank you, that is really valuable info. I just assumed 3 nights was the norm, so good info there!
Have looked at Inghams and it looks just what we are after. But they dont fly out of an airport near us. Not the end of the world, it just adds to the pain of long drive, hotel night before flight etc.,
However, they still look better than the rest!
Also liked the look of Canterbury Travel, but again, no local departures.
I kind of guess there will be, at a premium, and I need to ring them.......

I’ve been with TUI twice, last year to Saariselka for 4 nights and years ago to Levi for 4 nights. Hoping to go again this year 😀

It’s expensive but well worth it.

We went to Luostu with Canterbury Travel and found them very good.

We DIYed. Flew with Finnair and stayed in Saariselka at the Polar Aurora cabins for 5 nights (2018). We hired a car, driving over there was much easier than anticipated as there is barely any traffic. I haven’t done a package so have no comparison, but we definitely benefitted from being able to follow our own schedule rather than fitting in with a package schedule. We booked a Santa experience with one of the local hotels which was fantastic as they only booked on 4-5 families at a time - with this we did a reindeer ride and a sleigh ride through the forest to find Santa, as well as lots of time to play in the snow and we made gingerbread cookies too. Magical.

We booked in or went on one big activity each day eg Santa, husky ride, sledging and spent the rest of the time playing in the snow or chilling in the cabin - my kids were 4 and 7 at the time and really needed the down time. It couldn’t have been a better experience, I absolutely loved every second.

We went to Luosto with Canterbury Travel. Was good, full on for DD who was just 5 but she absolutely loved it, we stayed in a cabin which wasn't what I'd call luxury (as they did) but we were hardly in it.

Kids loved being away from hotels and sledging down massive hotel outside our cabins.

Dog sledding everyone loved but by god they shit whilst running and the smell is nauseating!

We went second week in December and had snow as were far enough into arctic circle that they rarely don't have snow, the Tui packages were cancelled when we went as weren't far enough up to have snow.
