Please show me your normal nurseries / bedrooms

I'm currently working out what to do with a spare room, that is earmarked as babies nursery / bedroom. Even though I know it will be a while before it's used as such.

I would prefer something simple and easy to change as baby grows up, but looking online for ideas is so overwhelming. Huge rooms, over the top themes and more furniture than John Lewis. Shock

Please can you show me normal nurseries. The house is more semi detached rather than stately home, and let me know what bits of furniture / items you actually found useful.

I got a nursery furniture set from mamas and papas which has a good size wardrobe, big chest of drawers with a removable changing top, and cot that converts into toddler bed.
DS1 was in there until he was 4, we have now converted it back to a cot for DS2.
When he outgrows the toddler bed we can replace with a single and still use the rest of the furniture. It was definitely a good buy (provided it doesn’t all fall to bits before then!)

I’ve got a small nursery room, so a cot bed with drawer underneath and I’ve had the recessed wardrobe redesigned to give more useable space. Plus some shelves over the cot wall (but not over the cot).

Walls are a mint green, with a handful of hand drawn framed Disney characters in white frames. Grey/silver carpet and white blinds with grey curtains. Should stand the test of time and with the pink bits that we inevitably have it looks quite nice.

The 'nursery' (is now just 4yr old DD2's bedroom) in our house is the box room, so it's small. I got pregnant with DD1 within weeks of moving into the house, so we concentrated on decorating that room first (this was 9 years ago and most of the other rooms still haven't been done!). We didn't know if we were having a boy or a girl so painted the walls white and a pale yellow colour. DH painted winnie-the-pooh pictures on one wall. The furniture was just a cot (second-hand from someone who was getting rid of all their baby stuff), wardrobe and chest of drawers/ changing table (ikea), book shelves (think my parents just turned up with them one day). We still have all the same furniture, replaced the cot with a full-sized single bed from John Lewis, 8 years later. Nothing co-ordinated. Some winnie-the-pooh prints framed on the walls and some embroidery that my mum made.

I've only got photos from when we were sorting it out before DD's arrival but here you go. We have an Ikea daybed that pulls down to a double, and will keep that in there when DD moves in there so me and DP have somewhere to sit/sleep on bad nights or when she is unwell.

Ikea chest of drawers that doubles as changing table, we chose wallpaper about six months before I became pregnant and wanted something bright that could work as a spare room or nursery. And then just bright prints and shelves. We added the Winnie the Pooh ones after I got pregnant as they are quite nurseryish, but we had the others up before then.

When she's older we will probably re-do it but it's fine for now! It's still used as a spare atm as DD is only four months and still in with us.

There's some great ideas on here, and thank you to Celebelly for sharing pictures. It's nice to see inspiration for a smaller sized room. Smile

DD (now 4) has 3 walls painted a sky blue and one a darker 'grass' green. We built a full size wardrobe with rails, top shelf and space for drawers and painted this a bright pink (honestly the colours do work together) - floor is laminate with a large road pattern rug

She has 4 Winnie the Pooh prints, an Elsa poster and a unicorn on the walls, the built in cupboard in the corner has been painted pink on the inside too and we have planet stickers on the door - ceiling and wood work white with glow in the dark stars

The idea was relatively plain colours she could grow into and flex pictures around as her tastes changed and grew without us having to repaint every couple of years

This is DDs room, we didn’t know her gender so went neutral. The wall with raindrops is light grey and the raindrops are decals so easily changed as she grows. The furniture was DSs and the rug was from my student house Blush (I did clean it)

I found it really difficult to decorate her room, Pinterest is unrealistic and most of the decor costs a fortune. I got a lot of the throws and pillows from primark and H&M.

Our “nursery” is painted cream. The whole house was done before we moved in and we havent changed it. Other than the fact it has a cot, rocking chair and a changing table in, it doesn’t really have much decoration that sets it apart as a baby’s room v any other room. We have a large changing table with storage underneath for clothes and nappies etc, and then a built in wardrobe that mostly houses random crap and needs clearing out.

Originally it was DS nursery, and then we moved him when DD was born, but didn’t redecorate. I changed the rug to a pink one and she has some different pictures on the wall and her toys on the shelf, but that’s about it.
