Old wives tale

The old wives tale of putting raw potato on warts does it actually work?
I wouldn't of thought you would need to bury the potato afterwards but maybe the potato starch does do something. Has anyone tried it?

As someone who suffered terribly throughout her entire childhood with over 180 warts on her hands? And was therefore the subject of serious nastiness from her schoolmates

No.

It doesn't work.

Neither does running a penny on them and giving the penny away, using banana skins, putting tape on them or 24/7 plaster wearing (though that will make your skin pretty much rot off - thanks mum!)

Get them frozen off at the doctors or if you're brave enough, buy the freezing stuff yourself and crack on.

Nope. I had issues with warts. A good GP told me to choose just one wart to work on. Keep using the horrible of the counter acid every day but before applying it use a nail file to file off the old acid and skin until it started to bleed. She said warts are good at cutting of the blood supply and therefore the body’s immune system can’t detect it and create antibodies. It worked eventually the choose wart disappeared shortly followed by the rest.

Duct tape worked on DS’s actually. It came out with its core intact. Shock

I read this too, hormone basically you need to muck about with it so your body realised it’s there.

The wart dissolving stuff from the chemist does work as long as they really are warts, not molluscans.

But when we were children my sister had a crop of warts on her hands, so we counted the warts, put the same number of stones in a paper bag and left it in the middle of a footpath crossroads, the idea being that whoever picked up the bag would pick up the warts too. Next day the bag had been moved, and her warts disappeared soon afterwards.

Of course, warts usually do disappear spontaneously... Still the power of belief is interesting!

Ds has lots on his hands and is starting to get them come up on his face. Tried the pharmacist they said gp as there were so many gp was actually a nurse who said over the counter stuff or leave them alone.

I really don't want to be filing down his skin till it bleeds.
I'm going to go back to the gp i think the face ones are new and they do say you can't use over the counter stuff for face ones
