What can I get for my 13 year old ds birthday?

He is 13 in 2 weeks. He has high functioning autism, isn’t into sports at all but loves animals and nature, he’s quite geeky and likes anime and computers.

At Christmas he had animal adoption thingy, I will be buying him a game for the switch he wants but won’t have it on his birthday due to the release date so I really want something or couple of small things for him to actual open on his birthday?? I don’t have loads of money to spare....

Can anyone help?

Does he have a raspberry pi? DS had one at about that age. It's a very simple build-your-own-computer kit. I thought it was gathering dust somewhere but discovered the other day he had attached it to some music recording equipment, so it obviously has uses beyond the fun of building it in the first place.

He also had those Blox sets and set up an alarm for his bedroom door which he loved, and various flashing lights sets.

@Inbedbynine
Would he like making the characters out of polymer clay?

Or have a go at designing them using Hama beads?

Inbedbynine · 13/06/2019 15:26

Hama beads too fiddly for him but clay is a possibility.

Sorry! It’s a sketch book that helps you master manga drawing

Thanks. He has one of those and looks at it but doesn’t use it? He sort of just does his own thing which obviously is fine.

@spiderlight are you able to do me another link of the light box as the link doesn’t work?

My son is a similar age and has ASD and the little extras he always likes are jigsaw puzzles, bath bombs and foam soap and ducks for the bath, chocolate and lego. He also likes certain DVDs and CDs - I think he likes having the physical thing rather than just a download but they do get scratched...

Tickets to a comic con or anime con? There’s loads around the country at various weekends and some have chill out rooms.

CantspellWontspell · 13/06/2019 19:56

An escape room experience from Groupon?

Or have a look to see if there is a virtual reality cafe anywhere near you. This is what I took my 14 year old to as his birthday treat.

My boys always like small gifts like this (sometimes better than their main gifts). You could always look for hoodies or mouse mats or bags etc.
