Can I make a complaint at work about ex?

I had a brief relationship with a man I work with. We do not work in the same team but the office is large and open plan and we sit relatively close to each other. No one else on the office knew about our relationship, (although I did confide in one person) as it was so new and we wanted to be professional and it ended before it got serious anyway. So no one else is aware of what was between us.

The problem is that the relationship ended badly and the man basically hates me. I am angry about with him about things but I do still have feelings for him. He has since sent me some rude text messages (which are unjustified) and to be honest I feel really uncomfortable working along side him and I feel really uncomfortable being in the office. My productivity has decreased and I am distracted when he is around.

Do I have a right to make a complaint, raise a grievance about the way he is treating me with the rude messages?

Thanks

Is he being rude to you at work? Or are these messages out with working time? Does he mention work in them or just your personal relationship?

This is exactly why most workplaces discourage relationships within their workforce. Does your work have a policy on it?

What outcome would you want from the complaint?

He's sent you personal messages, presumably on personal mobile phones? No, don't go to work about it - dreadfully unprofessional on your part.

Messages on work email - justified to complain.

You feeling uncomfortable is your choice in that only you can make yourself feel that way. Be a grown up - unless you leave that job you're going to be around him for a long time. You need to learn to ignore / be professionally distant / get on with it.
