Any registrars about - registering baby but can’t find marriage certificate!

Pretty much as the title says - I’ve got an appointment to register DS tomorrow (alone, DH has to work) but we’ve just realised we can’t find our marriage certificate anywhere. My appointment confirmation says to bring it but that the documents aren’t essential - can anyone reassure me that I can still register him with both of us on the birth certificate without it? I’ll be calling the registry office in the morning to ask but if anyone has any experience of this it might help me sleep!

We were - a different area to where we live now, but still UK.

We weren't married in the UK but I don't recall them needing to see it?

To be fair, DH and I registered my son's birth together, but nobody asked to see our marriage certificate.

Might be totally wrong here but I always thought it’s far easier to register the birth if you’re the mum. It’s the dad’s who have trouble if they go by themselves so I guess you'll Be done.

We went to register DD's birth (unmarried lesbian couple) hugely nervous, lugging a whole folder of all the possible documents the registrar could want to see, letters from the clinic, hospital, sperm donor info, etc. etc.

She didn't glance at any of it!

I know it isn't the same but your thread reminded me how kind our registrar was. I think they must enjoy doing something that's a nice moment it people's lives.

Turned out to be anticlimactic in a good way - all she needed was the date of our marriage to verify it! DS is officially a person now and we can all move on with our lives. Thanks for all the reassurance!
