Perforated ear drum - what is normal?

A week a go I got on a short flight after our holiday. Just after that I came down with a nasty viral thing - high temp, chesty cough, really sore throat. On Sunday my right ear hurt a lot but the next day Monday it was fine but I was then in agony with my left ear. And I mean agony. Never had a pain like it!

Went to the walk in centre. They said I had perforated my left ear drum and it was infected, started on antibiotics. Shortly after that the pain subsided and my ear started leaking a bloody discharge. Now for the last 48 hours I've been feeling awful, really dizzy and out of it. Today I've been having headaches and pain around the jaw on the left side of that ear along with the dizziness. Is this normal for a perforated ear drum?

Thanks!

In my experience, yes, it's bloody awful! Hope you feel better soon.

Ive had it happen and the pain and the fluid is to be expected.

However I didn't have pain in my jaw but they told me if I did it could be a sign of mastoiditis and I should come back. So maybe ring 111 and ask?

I wasn't dizzy either but guess that can happen with ear problems.

I would deffo ring 111 as you can get a really nasty infection as a complication following an ear infection. How is the pain now?

Thanks all I will ring 111. The actual pain in my ear has subsided, it just feels muffled/blocked but I feel really out of it in myself and every so often get this shooting pain in my jaw/head.
