Does anyone know the Dovedale stepping stones?

next year I will be close to these with a kids group/camp.
I'd love to walk there and let the kids walk across.

But I am sure it would fail a risk assessment.
What do you think?

How would you make it work?
Do I just need to show parents a photo and get their permission when they drop kids off??

We took our DC over aged 7 and 4. No problem.

I agree about the traffic lights puppy!
Last time I went we had to queue for ages while one side insisted on going over. When our side started to go people just carried on so you had to either cross on the stones or turn back Angry
Although it was a baking hot day in the summer
They've built the stones up so they are higher than originally.
I would suggest a picnic and a paddle especially further down the river or some children (and dogs) like to walk along the shore.
I hope you have a lovely time

I love Dovedale!
And yes, it definitely needs traffic lights. V busy last time we visited & tempers were getting frayed (in a very British, National Trust just huffing a lot way)

My small dog (schnauzer) fell off a stepping stone and the water only came up to his undercarriage so I think an average 6 yr old will be fine.

Our local schools take kids in trips there so presumably manage to pass a risk assessment. (Kids are 9/10 year olds.)

Half the fun is falling in...the kids will love it

Oldraver - I did wonder about that Grin
