I really need hope!

I don’t mean it has to be your dream job or that you’re ecstatic every single day. Please just tell me stories of your lovely colleagues, interesting work, feelings of satisfaction, and anything else that makes you love your job!

Ok, I absolutely do not love my job everyday. Some days it is horrific, the shifts are brutal, it is not at all family-friendly, it is crazy, stressful, frustrating and sometimes very sad.
I am a paediatric nurse, working on a busy ward. I get to make a difference to people, I get to meet some fantastic kids and some amazing parents too, the work is varied, no two shifts are ever the same, we are never bored at work, there can be huge job satisfaction, some days the kids are hilarious, some days I get to cuddle tiny babies, my team are brilliant and really support each other through the madness and I have a great manager who really looks out for us and supports us and without her I wouldn't have got through the past few months. This has been my dream job since I was a young child and I can't imagine doing anything else.

Thank you so much for your message! I’m so happy for you that you ended up working in your dream job and I can’t imagine how much of a difference you’ve made to so many families. Smile

I'd like to refer to my so far, best job ever Grin

I spent two and a half years as an area manager for an independent chocolate company chain. One day a month in head office, the rest of the time I got to swan around stores merchandising, marketing, and the more boring paperwork side of things. What I loved most, other than the team, were the customers. I think it was just such a naturally happy place, people wanted to be there, which I think made all the difference. It was interesting, fun, endless samples and no limits to creativity.

I won't lie. It was stressful at times, it was very target driven, and a lot of pressure to be present 24/7 for store managers. It was also the kind of job that consumed you. It very much took over your life.

After that I went on to work as a case manager for a homeless charity, definitely less fun!
