My small baby doesn't like her legs far apart in front wearing carrier

My baby is small for her age. She's 20 weeks and about 11 lbs. I used a Close Caboo when she was smaller but it was tricky to alter and she didn't like it once I had to adjust it and couldn't get it right!

Her legs don't go around my body like a frog like all the photos of babies in carriers. I think it's because she's small. Plus its so warm and she easily gets hot. I worry about her hips being forced into a position that's not comfy for her.

But the sling library ladies told me she's too little/young to face out.

Basically are there any carriers that hold their legs in more of a seated position. Facing in or facing out. She's happy sitting facing out on my hippie chick but I still don't have both hands free! I'm sure other people with small babies have had similar experiences?

The Ergo 360 with taco insert and cushion is the one I’ve got; I like the fact you can be flexible with the insert/cushion my little one was out of the taco at 14 weeks but used the bum cushion until about 20 weeks.
The fact you can narrow the bit where baby sits for forward facing seems much more comfy too.

I think I'd got for a stretchy wrap and some form of newborn hold at that age. I cant remember how old mine were when I switched wrap position, but in the early days they can go in legs together, sideways across you, rather than front to front, iyswim?

Can I echo what a PP said about forward facing? It's so bad for a baby's hips, even older ones. It really shouldn't be encouraged.

I don't think it's recommended to have babies sideways across you as you can't monitor breathing etc.

This is my husband wearing our daughter at 6 weeks about 10lbs in the ergo adapt. We still use it now at 14 months

Ahhh sunshine that makes more sense.
I thought you meant sideways like you would hold a baby in your arms in a bag/pouch sling style.which can obviously be dangerous.
Although at 20wks I think ops dd would be fine upright in a stretchy or woven as the fabric won't be as 'hard/inflexible' as a buckle type carrier.

Ergo baby was great for us and we got away with it until he was about 18 months (and then my back couldn’t take any more).

The taco insert was awful and didn’t work at all for us- but otherwise fab.
