Gift for MIL who enjoys knitting/crafts

Hi all, it's my MIL birthday soon and we're stuck for what to get her as a present. We usually end up just giving her a couple of lush bath bombs and some flowers as they're the typical retired couple who buy everything they want/need so are very difficult to buy for!

So MIL enjoys knitting, sewing, crocheting and pretty much anything crafty but she's got the gear and I have no clue what a good gift down this route might be. A quick amazon search comes up with "Knitting for beginners" books etc which is not appropriate. We don't have any DC (yet) so I can't get her soft toy or baby clothes patterns which seem to be the only other thing I can find.

Is there anything else I can get her? Anything useful that's a "nice to have" for this hobby rather than a necessity? Or anything new I could introduce her to that's along these lines? Any help and ideas would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks so much for all your wonderful suggestions, I've bought a yarn bowl from Etsy in the shape of an owl as she loves owls. I didn't even know yarn bowls existed! I will be coming back to this thread for future birthdays and christmases as there are so many great ideas here! So please feel free to keep the ideas coming if you have them, they won't go to waste!

Debbie Bliss or Phildar double knitting weight wool in a gorgeous colour. Enough for a cardigan or jumper. I'm guessing 7 balls x 50g but a shop could advise.

Depending on where she lives, maybe tickets to one of the big yarn/needlework expos? The one at Ally Pally is amazing, and they do others around the country.

Agree that I would much prefer a voucher than someone guessing what project/yarn bowl/ whatever knickknack I would like, and then me having to pretend I love it when odds are I don't. Shopping is at least half the fun!

Cross post, hope she likes the yarn bowl 😜😂 It is the thought that counts anyway, you are a kind DIL!

A site I love is this one, for free patterns across an amazing range of patterns & levels of difficulty. As well as vouchers etc for wool you could perhaps print off some of the patterns you think would appeal to her & present them in a nice binder (as well as giving her the website addy lol) I can spend a whole night just having a browse through & I've knitted many gorgeous things from it. www.ravelry.com/patterns/search#availability=free&sort=best&view=captioned_thumbs&page=1

What about something like this www.lovecrochet.com/paintbox-yarns-simply-dk-5-ball-colour-pack-designer-picks

I second the voucher suggestions. I do various crafty things myself, and vouchers for Hobbycraft would be my ideal girl!

*gift, obviously

Depends if you live anywhere near enough, but there are knitting and stitching shows around the country that you could perhaps get tickets for, or an IOU for when they’re released.

Alexandra Palace is in October, Olympia in the spring, Harrogate in November I think, Unravel is at Farnham Maltings in February and I think there are shows in Ireland and probably elsewhere too.

What about a ticket to one of the yarn festivals that are held throughout the country. If you google yarn festivals uk you’ll get a list of when and where they are. I’ve been to the knitting and stitching festival in Harrogate and it’s absolute heaven for crafters. All the wools, accessories and goods you could ever want, exhibitions, workshops, displays.

What about vouchers for hobby craft? That way she can get something she needs or wants for her knitting
