Looking to go late November - budget is between £200 - £400 per night (cheaper hotel = premium seats on plane, more expensive hotel = economy!)

We have never been before, so looking for somewhere with good local bars and restaurants and transport links - I'll do a separate post nearer the time asking for recommendations on what we must see/do

It's all very overwhelming - so much choice!

The knickerbocker is amazing and in such a great location. It also has a rooftop bar.

We stayed at the Muse. It’s a Kimpton hotel not far from Times Square so a very convenient location. It was lovely and they do free hot chocolate in the afternoons and free wine at happy hour in the lobby.

Hotel on Rivington is awesome. Huge room. Especially the high up ones with glass bathroom walls and massive baths.

Mercifully a long way from Times Square. Walking distance to middle of SoHo. Close to several subways.

Try The Ace, great location not far from Times Square but in a quiet street and very very cool. Reasonably priced for nyc

There's no shortage of hotels in NYC!

The first time we went, we stayed at the Andaz near the library. It was very cool, fab location, and great for a romantic getaway just the 2 of us. Last time we went, we had the kids with us, and we struggled to find something afford(we were there over Easter weekend). We ended up in the financial district at the Wagner, with views from our room of the Statue of Liberty. The room and bathroom was large enough for the 4 of us, and it was a really lovely plush hotel. We hadn't spent any time in the financial district previously, so it was v interesting exploring that area.

I think if I could go anywhere, I'd want to be in the Village/ Soho/Meatpacking. Depends on what you're planning to do. And if it's your first time, being near Times Square isn't a bad plan as it makes it very easy to get all over Manhattan.

I stayed in NYC at the start and finish of a road trip. First in a cheap hotel near Times Square which was adequate (I don’t get fussiness over hotels - if it’s clean, cheap and convenient, I’m in) but on the way back we stayed in an Airbnb sharing with the owner. Much better. Cheaper and a better experience.

If you're there at the very end of November, you'll hit up against thanksgiving which may make room rates more expensive. I'd narrow down what you think you might want to see, and take it from there. Anywhere south of central park (60th and down) is a good bet. Higher up than that and its very residential and the train lines can be patchy

Financial district is usually cheaper on a weekend due to no business ppl staying; however its not got a massive amount of bars and restaurants (that are open, anyway) so worth checking
