A desperate curtain making question!

So, we are having curtains made for bedroom. We have fairly large windows, terrace house, a bay and one single. Decided on curtains that fall just below the window (have black out blinds too). Now, I'm wondering if I did the wrong thing and want the curtains to fall to the floor.

The fabric has been ordered. Assuming I accept some wastage, it's not too late to change mind, is it?

Are the curtains going to be on the outside of the bay or the inside?

For the small window, I would have a Roman blind made not a curtain. If the curtains are on the outside of the bay, yes I would have full length.

It's a matter of taste really, OP, unless you have radiators under the window? It's usually advised that the curtains shouldn't cover the radiators.

Personally I loathe curtains that don't go to the floor but that's just my own quirk.

If you'd prefer them full-length and you can get enough fabric and have time to change the order, why not?

Speak to whoever is making them. If you have a radiator under the window, I would avoid floor length curtains. Otherwise it depends on the print and the fabric.

One single window has a radiator underneath, but it is next to a wall, so if we went floor length, it would be made to be pushed to one side (not a pair).

The others (3 in a bay) don't have a radiator.

The fabric is plain.

I've already emailed the curtain maker in a panic, and will likely become the sort of customer she hates! She's popping in tomorrow.

But to know what is possible - she hasn't started making them yet. The fabric has been ordered, but it's plain, does that mean even if I incur extra wastage etc, that it's possible to go full length?

If you've measured and ordered enough only for short curtains then I'd expect you'll have to buy more fabric. It will be extra expense obviously and your curtain-maker may well charge more to make up longer curtains - is the fabric being supplied by them too or are you getting this separately yourself?

In theory though, I can't see why it would be a massive problem otherwise. Unless the curtain-maker has some objection, but to make them a bit longer isn't a huge technical issue.
