Hi I will be in Bristol in Montpelier between 13-17June - are there any good mother toddler groups I could go to?

Look at the main library. Story time. Museum also near. I like the m shed and we are curious although the latter is pricey. Love Bristol although I'm a regular visitor not an inhabitant. Bristol zoo is also fantastic.

Thank you, hubby is at a gig on Thursday night and Saturday night so I was hoping for something on foot with the kids early on Friday and Sunday morning in Montpelier. We will hopefully do the museum and the likes together as a family (with two pairs of hands lol)

You might enjoy a trip to St Werberghs City Farm which is within easy walking distance

Also recommend St Werburghs (you can cut through the Ashley Down allotments to get there)and St Andrews Park is massive and right next to Montpelier - if it's nice there is a paddling pool and sandpits which are in a dog free toddler friendly area.

There are play cafes a bit further up Gloucester Road - Playful and KudaCan and there used to be a play area in At the well on Cheltenham Road which is a laundrette/cafe...

If you go into St Pauls there is a learning centre with the library and a basic cafe which is very easy with kids or their is Bishopton Library on Gloucester Rd.

Cairns Cafe is lovely but probably a nearly 30 minute walk from Montpelier with a toddler...

There also seems to be this playgroup:

I have a 3 year old but work Fridays so not very clued up but also We the Curious often do toddler takeover on Friday mornings so might be worth looking at?

Just wandering along by the harbour or going on the ferries is also fun or if you have a train enthusiast you could just get on the train at Montpelier and go along the Severn Beach line and back - takes about an hour.

Really helpful thank you. I had planned on doing St. Andrews park / lido, but the weather forecast isn't great for Friday so i am trying to find things close by on foot. Staying on Richmond Road so these are great. Is there much indoors for the farm?

Farm doesn't have much that's indoors unfortunately. How far are you able to go on foot?

The City Museum I love with a toddler - free, lots of space, interesting stuff, cafe, toddler play area, really chilled out - if you have a buggy you can get there in about 30 minutes or take the train to Clifton Down (two stops from Montpelier) - there is also a library next to the station and a toddler group near there on Friday:

PS where are you staying on Richmond Road? Just wondering if you're in my friend's house! (If so they have young kids so you should be sorted!)

missdenideni · 12/06/2019 22:54

Brilliant thank you. I am now considering bringing a car seat as well as the weather forecast is soo bad that we might have to taxi about rather than walk.

We are staying with a lady Anita, her children have fled the coup x

Ah no not my friend - the weather is grim and there is so much traffic that in the rain it's no fun walking with kids - Uber works pretty well here and there is a lot more indoor stuff in the city centre too. Hope it all goes well!
