Ok I hope that someone has some good advice for me.

My 4.5 month old stopped wanting to breastfeed about 3 weeks ago. Could only get him to eat occasionally and ended up giving him formula. Went to doctor yesterday and he had tongue tie. Was cut there and then but now I have a problem with my supply. I struggle to pump any milk I get about 200ml a day if im lucky. How can I boost my supply now?

Make sure that you eat well and keep well hydrated. Your body produces the amount of milk that you / your baby ask it to. Keep pumping even when no more milk is coming out. This is sort of like ordering more milk. Try to pump every three hours if you can.

Good luck, I hope that you manage to re-establish breast feeding.

Thank you! Pumping is so hard with him though. I'm doing 7, 5, 3 minutes. Is that the best?

Pumping routines vary by person, but I do 2 mins (let down) 8 on pump in 20 minute bursts per side. I do this around 2-3 times a day, and if I missed a feed.

200ml in one session is loads, I sometimes only get 30ml after a feed (sometimes nothing) but after a few days I notice an increase.

Remember what you get from expressing isn't necessarily an indication of your actual supply. The baby is much more efficient at getting milk out compared to a pump. Are you able to put him to the breast at all or is he is refusing? Oats and fenugreek are supposed to help boost supply

Remember though that even if this turns out to be the end of your breastfeeding you've done fantastically to get this far .

Thank you ladies. 200ml is per day. Varies from 40ml to 150ml in a good session. He will eat from boob at night but still doesn't fancy it during the day. I can sometimes persuade him by having a little bottle to start with and then using a nipple shield.
